My First Time In Amsterdam

[Chapter 1]

"My First Time In Amsterdam"

My first trip to Amsterdam was back in 1998 with an old mate, Rob.
Travelling by Coach from Blackshots, Grays to Dover where we would catch the ferry over to France & then continue the journey on to Holland.

Upon arriving in Amsterdam, the first thing you hear is "Psst, Weed, Coca, X?" from endless amount of guys plotting on scamming gullible tourists of their drug money.

The first thing on Rob's mind when we arrived was to go for a pint, whereas my only intention was on finding the nearest Coffeeshop so that I could purchase & smoke some of the finest the Dutch had on offer. At that time the big three were Skunk #1, White Widow & Northern Lights, so I left Rob to his beer & off I went off in my search

The first Coffeshop I found was a small & reasonably quiet shop called Futura, not too far from the train station you could buy any amount, whether 10, 20 or 50 Gilders of Dutch Cannabis in plastic test tubes. Purchasing a certain amount, I then rolled my first spiff in Holland & made my way out to explore some more. Sadly, Futura is no longer trading as a Coffeshop but the remnants still remain of an era gone forever.

Wandering around Amsterdam in a daze like state was such a euphoric feeling, the sun was shining, the sweet smell of high grade filled the air & there were red lights with beautiful women everywhere, lol.

Being Rob was still nowhere to be seen by this time, I then carried on with my mission of tracking down as many strains of weed I could find. Trekking all over, going Coffeeshop to Coffeeshop I picked up various grams of hash & weed with all these weird & wonderful names. The smell though, oh my God!

Making my way around the Red Light District for the first time, I was absolutely gobsmacked by the amount of hot & sexy women that were on display in the fluorescent lit windows. Whether Dutch, German, Italian or African, all were available for your pleasure, in exchange for a small fee of 50 Gilders for 15 mins. These women were seriously something else, some of the most beautiful model like women I had ever seen, I was like a kid in a Candy shop, lol.

As the day went on & it started to get dark I eventually met up with Rob again, a good six or seven hours since I'd seen him last & we were only there for ten, lol. How time fly's when you're having fun!

Telling Rob all about the Red Light District, he then went on to say he'd spent all his money on beer & weed & would I lend him the money for a hoe. Thinking back, I think I lent him the money, if I didn't Rob I apologise mate.

Back at the RLD now, things seemed a lot different. A much darker vibe compared to what I had seen earlier in the day, there were teenage boys & perverted looking old men lurking everywhere by the public toilets. The boys I believe were Rentboys plying their trade & the men, no need to guess.

Amsterdam, back in 98 wasn't what it is today. The place was much more seedier, animal porn videos were for sale & hardcore drug addicts littered the many alleys, shooting up for all to see. The whole place would just glow a bright red, from the many lights, as if that was Hell itself lol.

Eventually, the night came to an end & it was now time for us to go & get back to the coach with the many goodies we had picked up throughout the day. Rob kept his in his pocket, so sat awake for the journey home whilst I stashed mine somewhere else on the coach & proceeded to sleep like a baby.

I can't remember if we were made to get off the coach for a search at French Customs this particular time or not, but needless to say we both got our products safely back home on the following Sunday Morning.

Rob went to smoke his with our mates & me, well I just dissapeared for three, four days taking the time to enjoy my many a test tube & baggy filled with Dutch weed lol.
