Chapter 1

As far back as she could remember, Katy had always wanted to be a nurse!

She remembered one Christmas when she was maybe 7 or 8 and 'Santa' had brought her a nurse dress up costume and a doctors bag, she would pretend her dolls and teddies were her patients and she would spend hours in her room making them better.

When she was a child she never thought about death...... in child's play patients always make a full recovery......If only real life was the same!

Katy had been at The Winchester hospital for almost a year, It was her placement hospital whilst she was studying for her nursing degree. It wasn't her first option or second, or even her third!

She had been late applying for the course so had run out of options. She had always been indecisive and would worry about everything.

When she was offered the place she was excited but extremely nervous. It meant finally moving out of her parents home, which at the age of 23 is probably something she should have done awhile ago, but being the only child they were all so close she never felt the need or the want to leave.

The Winchester was just outside of Bristol, a three and a half hours drive on a good day from her childhood home in Kent. The distance meant she didn't get to see her family much, unless she had a long weekend off, which wasn't very often.

The other students on the course were nice but after a 12 hour shift she didn't have the energy for a social life and days off were spent catching up on coursework.

Katie kept telling herself it wasn't forever and after two more years she would be fully qualified and would hopefully get a job in a hospital close to her hometown where she could get a place near to her family.

It had been yet another long, exhausting day and Katy breathed a sign of relief as she kicked off her shoes and relaxed back onto the sofa. She rubbed one foot with the other, alternating between each foot, relishing the feeling between pleasure and pain. She had been on her feet all day and every inch of her body ached.

Her placement for the last three months had been in the A&E department and although she had some great laughs with the team there, Katy was well and truly ready to move on to something a little less fast paced and busy.

Tomorrow would be her first day working as part of the Oncology team and she wanted to make a good first impression but right now all she needed was sleep, she was too tired to eat or shower and she didn't have the strength to even make it to her bed. She pulled the soft grey fleece blanket from the back of the sofa, that her mum had packed for her a year before. She wrapped it around herself and her body quickly gave way to sleep.

Ku_Rolet: The novel was good, and I really enjoyed reading it. I love the leads and their bond, but I have one question that confused me. How could Tristan have been dreaming about his mate since he was a child if Omara was already mated to someone else before him? If Kyle had accepted Omara, would Tristan ne...
