The Corpse
In the middle of nowhere the car stopped and no matter what it would not start. Aaron came out of the car, opened the bonnet and tried to figure out the problem but he could not. He then looked around and saw only black shiny road and on its each sides, barren field, no houses and not a soul. He took out his mobile and tried calling his car service workshop but there was no network, so with his mobile held high in his hand he started walking here and there then towards the barren field searching for network. He kept walking and came to a spot where he saw hundreds of vultures feasting on something and he could smell rotten body, he thought of an animal. He looked properly and his hand waving made a loud sound shuuuu………! The vultures scattered briefly and then he saw human hands, then a body pecked and eaten by vultures.
Aaron ran back to his car gasping for breath almost falling as his legs were not stable. He was feeling nausea, got into the car and closed the door. He could feel his heart drumming, his hands and legs shaking. He stayed inside the car for about fifteen minutes then came out and walked up and down on the black empty road trying to get network. He desperately waited for any vehicle to pass by but seemed the road was deserted for that day. Twenty five minutes passed and he saw a vehicle coming from the opposite direction. He said to himself,
“Thank God, finally somebody is here and I can be rescued from this deserted place.”
He waved his hands trying to stop the car but the vehicle did not stop. The driver in the car did not even slow down to check on him. He felt bad seeing how ignorance people have become. He kicked the road and cursed the driver.
After nearly an hour a van drove by and he quickly got out of his car waved his hands not expecting the driver would stop. To his amazement the driver stopped.
He rolled his window glass down and asked, “Is everything okay?”
Aaron said, “No, my car stopped all of a sudden and now is refusing to start.”
The man got out of his vehicle and checked Aaron’s vehicle to see if he could fix the problem. Unfortunately it was beyond his knowledge, he could not fix it. He looked at Aaron and said,
“Sorry pal, I can’t fix it but I can give you a lift to the nearby town. There you can get a mechanic and bring him here to fix it.”
Aaron just nodded his head. He was hesitant whether to tell the man about the corpse he saw on the barren land little further up! He anyways told the man about the corpse eaten by vultures and asked if he wanted to see it but the man refused.
The man said, “Oh! God, no ways I would want to see the rotten and half eaten corpse.”
He gave a shudder and said with a smile, “Sorry pal, I cannot see such stuff as I have a weak heart.”
Then he winked at Aaron and they both laughed over it.
Aaron locked his car and got into the van. The road was empty and the town was about four miles away. The man was quite talkative.
After sometime Aaron got network on his mobile and he made a call to the local police, informed them about the corpse and gave them the location of the body. Police asked him if he could come in person to the police station to which he willingly agreed.
When they reached town he thanked the man so helpful and friendly and said goodbye. First he went to his workshop to get a mechanic for his broken car then he went to the police station.
