Summary

Corruption. Greed. Murder. The road to hell is paved with good intentions, and even the wisest man’s obsession can make him blind to his sins. Kasparian’s obsession is all he has. He wants to protect others from feeling the torment he does every day – the pain of losing those dearest to him. However, the only way for him to accomplish this is to possess the power of the gods. For years, Kasparian and his disciples fought to get the attention of the wisaris’, the race known to humans as gods. Kasparian used to look to them for guidance and salvation, but finding none, he decided to take matters into his own hands. Researching the illusionary powers of the Shadow Academy and the destructive energy of the Flares of the Sun, he wants answers. When his thoughts and experiments grow darker, the most critical question is: Is any price too high? Read today to find out if Kasparian succeeds in his attempts to acquire the power of the gods. How much of himself and his friends will he have to sacrifice? And what happens when he realises it was a mistake trying to control the power of several realms?

kitkatbar29: So this first book in this series I liked. A good plot that flowed well for the most part with some twists along the way, good well developed characters... there are a few technical mistakes, but nothing to harsh. I must say toward the end of the book there were some issues with like a quick change ...

Sometimes the jumps between scenes and plots jumped ahead a little too far for my taste. For example when MC heard the update about her first mate the book suddenly changed to th...

Cynical Optimist : You can never go wrong with a B. E. Harmel story. The plot is intriguing and the protagonists are mature and sensible.I was a little disappointed with the stylized writing. Harmel, a gifted storyteller easily draws the reader in by creating characters thatbwe can connect with emotionally. Hwre, she...

Loved, Loudly

Merrell Bunting: Well written, kind of quiet story, I enjoyed it. I am still a bit perplexed over whether this was a second chance mating story with choosing or completely a chosen mate story. If it is a chosen mate tale it leaves one a bit worried about a fated mate showing up. Either way it was a nice read.
