Chapter 1

There is a quote written by Condoleezza Rice: “Find your next adventure-do it well, enjoy it-and then, not now, think about what’s next.“. Have you ever expected life to just flow the way you want, without any mistakes, without troubles, without tears, just you and the people you care about here with you through it all? Well everybody wishes for that but only a few people receive that wish. Screaming at the top of my lungs, I ran towards her but she had already fallen, she had already left us to grieve. This is because you would probably keep dreaming about what happened that day. Upon reaching the end of the bridge, I could not find her. Her body was washed away by the river, leaving no trace.

When I walked by my two best friends in the world, I asked, “Ewww can you please get a room there are people here who still have virgin eyes, ears, and basically EVERYTHING.“. I saw a frown on their faces as they turned towards me. “girl, you damn well know your ears, eyes, and mouth are not virgins. I don’t know about the other places, but I’m damn sure they’re not virgins as well.” Sandra replied. It shocked me to see Kevin holding back a laugh when I looked at him. While crossing my arms and tapping my feet on the ground, I shot toward him and asked, “Are you planning to let your girlfriend talk to me like that without doing anything?” “Well, what did you expect?” he answered. “I expected you to say something about this,” I replied. No, I am not mad that he isn’t defending me. Instead, I am mad that every time we meet he says something slick about me. As I’m stubborn, I’ll answer back, resulting in a fight, and I’m over this. My friend and I don’t even seem like true friends, much less best friends.

My middle finger was raised in the air as I walked away and shouted “fuck yourself!” “sure, come join me!” I stopped in my tracks and turned toward him. “Sure why not, when and where?” I reply now standing about 20 feet away, “how about right now in the janitor’s closet?“. I smirked and looked around me to see over 20 kids staring at us. I gave out a nervous laugh as I looked at Sandra, then I waved at her as she gave me a disgusting look. I turned around and hurried to class. “Today, we are planning to recap what we discussed last class.” I started zoning out. Currently, I’m in 5th-period Geometry. We’re reviewing what we did last week, segmenting sectors. I understand that but I don’t know how to do it. I could care less about how he explains it because he doesn’t know how to explain things. Therefore, no matter what our mini-assessments are on Friday, we are all going to fail.

The sound of the bell signaling time for lunch brought me back to reality. Everybody jumped up and rushed out the door then I got up and packed my stuff and hurried out of the classroom. I round the corner and next thing I know I’m on the ground and my bag flew across the hall “OMG I’m so sorr-oh it’s you” I was confused at first but when I looked up I understood why the person said that standing right in front of me in all his glory is my ex-boyfriend Xavier. “Your late, bitch” Sandra said as soon as she saw me walking towards her and Kevin “a brief incident had happened in the hallway, sorry,” I replied back while sitting down “what happened” “whatever” Kevin and Sandra answered at the same time, I glanced up at Kevin and mouthed “nothing” then looked down while picking at my fries which I don’t think I’m planning to eat anytime soon, that’s not going to be a problem because next thing I knew, my fries had vanished, and Sandra was stuffing her face with the fries that were front of me. I rolled my eyes and got up to leave when I felt someone grab onto my arms “where you off to?” I heard Kevin ask me. I didn’t even bother to look at him and said “restroom” then pulled my arm out of his hold and walked away.

*1 hour later*

“Do you need a ride home?”

“Ahhh!!”

“he-” I turned around and slapped the person behind me before they could finish speaking.

“Ow,” the mystery person whispered. Upon turning around and looking at the person, I saw it was Xavier. “OMG I’m so sorry Zav,” I said while touching his right cheek from where I slapped him. When I saw he had been staring at me for a long time, I stopped. “You remembered” he whispered. If I wasn’t standing so close to him I wouldn’t have been able to hear him. “Remember what,” I said back looking confused “oh, nothing,” he said now standing straight and taking my hand away from his face.

“So do you still need a ride home?” he asked

“Umm.”

“Come on I won’t do anything stupid I promise”

“That’s what you said last time” I whispered “what?” he asked me looking confused “nothing, and sure why not,” I replied and we started walking towards his car. “Oh hell no I’m not getting in that,” I responded back while looking at him and pointing at the car “why not,” he said looking confused “because do you see what this is?” I shout back “yes, it’s a 2016 Ferrari 488 Spider.”

It still amazes me how you convinced me to get into your car,” I pouted at him as my arms crossed and my cheeks puffed out, “oh please stop being a cry baby you wanted to come anyways” he said back, “but I still cannot believe the way you convinced me” I replied as I turned the radio looking for something to listen to, “but I remember when we used to date, you always said you wanted really tall ice cream so yeah” he said as he

“How soon do we forget”

“How we felt”

I stopped singing when I heard Xavier singing the big Sean part. To say I was shocked was an understatement. I didn’t even know he could sing that well.

We laughed after the song ended. I miss watching him chuckle at stupid stuff like that. Seeing him still laughing, I looked at him until he stopped laughing and smiled at me. I felt that right now this was the most glorious moment of my life. Looking out the window, I could only see darkness.

“One day your life will flash before your eyes, make sure it’s worth watching”
