Chapter 1

I Started this story on the 20th of February 2021 and left it alone, I last wrote for it in June of that year and because I think I failed in some way of creating this story, I will upload it and maybe if I see it, I will write for it..?

The Updates will be slow because I have many projects I am working on, thank you for your patience.

“Parker, wake up!” Persephone growled at him.

Parker woke up from his nap and asked, “What is it?”

His wolf took over his body and jumped up. He made it to the door and said as he walked up the stairs to the third floor, “Our mate is here! I want to see her.”

Parker suddenly got excited as he could smell their mate, but the closer they got, the stranger things seemed. They stopped at the office the alpha of the pack used.

“Parker?” Persephone called, unsure if he should knock because things seemed too odd right now. All the alpha’s kids were mated, so why did his mates’ scent come from here?

The door swung open and they couldn’t believe it. The next in line to be the alpha of the Winter Moon Pack was his mate? This was impossible.

Mervin frowned as he saw Parker stand before him and grew nervous. He knew it was Parker’s eighteenth birthday today, meaning that he could sniff out his mate and, by the look of sadness in his eyes, Parker figured it out.

“What is it?” Mervin played it off. He was in a meeting, and the moment the scent of his mate stopped at the door, he grew nervous. He quickly got up to open the door, just in case Parker was about to blow everything up.

Parker immediately bowed his head as his tears swam in his eyes and said, “S, sorry to disturb you a, alpha. I just wanted to know if it would be okay with you if I could head to the lake near the border for a swim later.”

Mervin felt his stomach churn in pain but shook it off and asked, “Why? You know your wolf refuses to shift and you cannot fend off a pack of rogues. Parker, you just turned eighteen, right? Your omega scent will lead them right to you, which will lead to trouble for the pack later on.”

Parker slowly raised his head and looked into Mervin’s eyes and asked, “Alpha? You know it’s my birthday today?”

Mervin swallowed nervously and nodded his head, “Yes, I know when it’s everyone’s birthdays, not just yours.”

Parker scoffed and sent a mental message to him, >Right, there is nothing special about me.<

Mervin frowned. He was about to ask what Parker meant by those words, but he found the link passage closed off, literally impregnable.

Parker bowed and said, “Thank you alpha, I understand.” He turned around and wiped his tears away. This was such a slap to his face and thanks to this, who knows when he will die?

“Why are you off in another world?” Parker’s best friend, Tatiana, asked him.

Parker looked at the human and smiled weakly. “I was just thinking about my future.”

“Child, it’s your birthday today. Why stress about it now when you can do that tomorrow?” Tatiana asked him.

Parker chuckled, hiding his embarrassment and focussed on the teacher who was lecturing about the effects of radiation.

Parker and Tatiana sat in a corner in the cafeteria, eating and not bothering about each other like they always did.

Lexus walked over to their table, who was also Mervin’s younger brother, two years younger than Parker, and sat down. Tatiana frowned when she saw Lexus glaring at the unbothered Parker and said to him, “You better not fuck his day up.”

Lexus rolled his eyes and tapped his finger on the table. “Parker, Mervin is planning a party for all the eighteen-year-olds of the last three months. Why haven’t you responded yet?”

Parker raised a surprised brow. Mervin had many chances to throw a party, but on his birthday? Maybe he felt shit, but he wasn’t materialistic or just flamboyant.

“I didn’t know about that,” Parker trailed off.

“You would have known if you listened to the message in the link,” Lexus shaded him.

Parker sat forward from his slouched position and asked, “Even if I did. It’s my birthDAY, not WE. I’m spending it with my family, not the pack.”

“Pack members are family, Parker!” Lexus growled at him for the disrespect.

“Blood family then,” Parker answered.

Lexus narrowed his eyes, then stood up and walked away. He was just here to pass on a message from his brother, who was oddly invested in inviting this freak of nature.

*

“Did you see the look in his eyes?” Mervin asked his wolf.

>Mn,< Hades hummed. >We haven’t even seen his wolf and I refuse to believe that the blood of my children will be tainted by that weak omega breed. I refuse to acknowledge the moon goddesses’ decision!< He growled.

Mervin nodded his head in agreement.

>Brother, I’ve spoken to Parker. He said he will be spending it with his family.< Lexus said through the link.

Mervin narrowed his eyes on the keyboard and asked, >Is that all he said?<

>Yes, he said it disrespectfully,< Lexus answered, displeased. >Brother, just forget it. And why do you care? The others had their parties already.< Lexus asked.

Mervin licked his lips and chuckled, >It’s my job as an alpha but never mind. We’ll have a party of our own·<

The line cut and Hades growled, >That little ungrateful weakling! I should rip his head from his shoulders.<

Eddison, the beta, walked in and said, “The gift you ordered for Parker has arrived.”

Mervin looked up at him and frowned. “Just drop it off in his room. He won’t be coming home tonight.”

Eddison shrugged and left.

Mervin sat there and rubbed his forehead. He was so tired and the sudden pressure of having his mate find out about him made his hairs stand up. Parker had every chance to expose him, but he has been silent this entire time, well, since this morning.

>Alpha, there have been sightings of Rogue’s near pack lands,< A warrior stated.

>I’m coming,< Mervin said and jumped out of the open window, shifting in midair. His beautiful black wolf landed on the ground and rushed out towards the forest.
