Prologue
There is complete chaos all around. The once majestic Wakaran Temple lies in ruins.
No doubt if this disaster isn't stopped, it will be fully destroyed. Not just the temple, but the whole Malfora can be destroyed if Mathew isn't stopped soon.
He has turned into a power-thirsty monster. We had no idea that this is what would happen to a witch who uses its magic to rule.
We were prohibited to do that. The only boundary to a witch's magical potential. A witch to supposed to use magic only to guide the powers of Malfora, not to rule it.
But Mathew broke this boundary. He was a royal light-witch. But he killed the king of his kingdom, the light fae-king, King Achilleus to get the throne. And within days, his powers started multiplying, killing him from inside.
He was no longer the Mathew we knew, but a monster who only craved one thing. Destruction.
He had already destroyed all the small temples in both dark and light worlds.
The Wakaran temple, one of the largest temple where both Sun God and Moon Goddess is worshipped, is the only temple that is still intact although ruined. And this temple is our only hope to stop Mathew.
"This way. We have to go to the basement altar", someone shouted in front.
We tried everything to stop Mathew, even the Oblivion spell (spell to put a person in coma). But it was able to stop him only for few hours.
Also, being in unconscious state saved his energy only to amplify his power even more.
Now there was only one way possible, the Oblation Spell. 'All the other witches would have to sacrifice their power on one single condition confirmed.' This was the spell's demand.
Witches from all over the Land of Malfora had gathered to sacrifice their power, if it was meant to save their world.
We gathered around the basement altar. Suma, the witch who had led us here and knew the ritual was standing above on the altar.
"O deorum! Ad te deprecor, ut protegas populum tuum ab interitu", she cried in a high pitched voice, holding both her hands to her chest.
"Ad protegere Malfora", the huge crowd of witches completed after her.
And the chanting continued, "Tuere nos, tuere nos,... "The voice was increasing continuously until it was deafening, but clear.
Suma gestured to stop. Everything fell into a peaceful silence as if the time had stopped, pausing all the chaos around us. But we knew, Mathew was closer now. He was coming.
"Now, it's time to put forth our condition." Suma continued the spell. And everyone started whispering the condition. Their whispers together were loud enough to be heard throughout the temple.
"We, the witches of Malfora, are willing to sacrifice our powers for the sake of the protection of our land, Malfora. Protect us and defend us from all that intents to harm us. And we shall live without our powers till the kind and the cruel come hand in hand once again."
