Chapter 1

“I’m not so sure this is a good idea.” I squeezed my best friend’s hand as he pulled me down a dark road towards my certain downfall.

“Come on Ian you were all for this all week!” Nate moaned turning to face me. Nathan Caldwell has been my best friend since we were in elementary school. We were both sad loners who met one day on the swing set and from that moment on we became inseparable. He was about 5’7 artificially tanned and pretty perfect. Nate was a perfectionist in everything he did. His chestnut hair was always perfectly styled his skin soft and supple not a blemish in sight. He looked stunning in the thin black mesh top we had picked out the booty shorts complementing his long legs.

“Babe stop worrying everything’s gonna be fine, no one is going to recognize you.” I glanced down at the short dark blue pleated skirt and grey halter top. Nate was right we’d spent the last week gushing over this plan. We spent all day and night getting ready for this mediocre high school house party. I’d spent hours on our makeup carefully matching it to our outfits and making sure nobody would be able to recognize me.

“But what if someone does? They just stopped paying attention to me I don’t want to be bullied again.” Nate shot me a sad smile tucking my blonde hair behind my ear.

“I can’t promise you that everything is going to go perfectly but I can guarantee that everyone at that party is going to be drunk or high off their ass so they probably won’t even remember you in the morning. But if you really don’t want to do this we don’t have to. It’s not too late to go home and order pizza and watch movies all night.” I squeezed Nate’s hand taking a deep breath.

“No, your right beside we look too good to just go home without being drooled over.” We broke out into a fit of giggles, laughing maniacally as we continued running towards the house.

As soon as we entered the party the smell of weed slapped me in the face. It seemed like the entirety of our school had been squished inside the small two-story house. Loud music shook the whole house trash and random articles of clothing were strewn around every room. Nate led me through the house squeezing his way through groups of grinding teenagers and past people making out.

Finally we made it into the kitchen where Nate immediately grabbed two solo cups filled with mystery alcohol. I glanced around awkwardly as more and more people began to stare at us. I did my best to ignore them following Nate’s lead I took a large sip from the cup immediately regretting it. A bitter cough syrup like taste flooded my mouth causing me to cough.

“What is this?” I yelled casting the cup a distasteful look.

“Some shitty flavored vodka, don't worry it never tastes good.” Nate screamed back before throwing his head back and downing what was left in his cup. He guided my cup back to my lips slowly urging me to drink. Throwing my rational thoughts aside I gulped down the repulsive liquid gaging as I finished it. Nate quickly refilled our cups before dragging me once more through the crowd back into the main room. Nate immediately began swaying his hips to the pounding beat of the music. He pulled me closer twinging his free arm around my waist. I giggled wrapping my free arm around his torso as we danced, and by danced I mean we were just grinding on each other. Nate took a large sip from his cup before leaning down and pressing his lips to mine slowly forcing it down my throat.

Our little show attracted a bunch of people and before I knew it we were the center of a group of withering teenagers. Two seniors I didn't recognize ended up wrapping their arms around Nate pulling him away from me as they whispered in his ear while their hands wandered across his skin. I hesitated unsure what to do when a pair of arms wound their arms around my waist. I was guided back into a large chest until I was fully engulfed by his larger frame. He took the cup that was clenched tightly in my grasp, passing it to someone next to us who downed the remaining contents. He leaned down until his head was resting on my shoulder so he could whisper in my ear.

“Hello Princess.” A shiver shot down my spine, his deep and somewhat familiar voice caressed my ear. Across from me Nate was gapping open mouthed at me ignoring his two partners much to their annoyance.

What? I mouthed at him my anxiety quickly spiking.

Turn around he mouthed at me eyes rapidly shooting from me to the guy standing behind me. I turned my head slightly jerking it away immediately. Out of everyone who could’ve grabbed me why did it have to be Alexander Hale? Alexander has been my sworn enemy since fourth grade when he stole my lollipop at recess. Of course he probably forgot about that incident but more importantly he was one of my bullies from over the last two years when people had found out I was gay. Alexander was one of the popular jocks of our high school, and he’s been that way since kindergarten. He was the perfect tanned blue eyed blondie, he always looks like he popped out of bay watch with his perfect bone structure, abs, and messy hair. I was yanked back into reality when he caressed my hips. Suddenly I was terrified his hands would wander too low or too high. Just when I thought it couldn’t get any worse he whispered in my ear again.

“You look familiar, have we met before?” I grabbed his hands as they began to wander again holding them in place.

“No, we’ve never met before.” I whisper yell afraid my voice would give me away. Like the saint he is Nate broke free from the two boys holding onto him and over to me.

“Let’s go, I heard they’re playing truth or dare in the other room.” Without giving me a chance to answer he yanked me out of Alexander’s arms and out of the room.
