Chapter 1

SALIS

-A sharp noise pierced the cool night's air, making most people wince within a ten foot radius. The ruckus had been caused by a male hidden amongst the shadows of the crowd, a grin plastered on his face. To this boy, causing trouble was his happy place. He kept his hood pulled as his small frame weaved through the waves of people.

Once onto the graffiti covered street, he neared his destination- a large underpass full of poverty stricken homeless people. This was his home, at least, visiting to help out was. He would rather spend time with these people than at his own home, where his "mother" poked and prodded him with questions of his whereabouts in the day.

While the noise-maker was busy distracting, the young male had pickpocketed around one thousand dollars from the civilian crowd. He pocketed this money to buy drugs, even from the hierarchy of unimaginable wealth, such as CEO's and high ranking managers who either haven't been caught, or are completely disregarded due to the bribes taken on behalf of the underpaid policemen.

The teen completed a deal and was on his way to use as a large man with a peppered beard had started to approach him. He paid the man no mind as he slid a needle into his arm, injecting the thin liquid and waiting for its effects. "Hmm fucccck.." A heavy sigh left him as he took the used syringe and threw it into the dumpster behind him. The larger man smirked, holding up a badge. "You're under arrest-" He said, cuffing the boy and reading his rights.

The cuffs used were a special grade, made for beings with powers, such as telekinesis and the like. The grey young man spat at the undercover officers black sued shoes with a devilish smile. Daniels- his name tag read once he revealed it. "This is Daniels, I'm on the way with a juvenile." The officer said calmly into his car's radio.

-Moments later they arrived at the city prison, as they had no other holding center, and had the boy checked in. "Salis Jaeger." He growled as they took his mugshot for the third time that month. Salis's tail whipped about until a deputy shackled it to his left leg. "Sit while we do some more paperwork, Jaeger." Deputy Owen said, his dog-like ears flicked in anxiety. "Brought in by Lorenzo Daniels.." The deputy trailed off as he typed on his laptop. "Drug use and paraphernalia..."

After typing the report, he clicked send as Salis watched in slight anger, but his high had just hit him, therefore he had no time to feel angry. The demon had to enjoy it while it lasted. His rubies rolled into his head as he closed his dark eyes, feeling his body relax as if he just pleased himself.

A few hours later, a shorter man with large wings walked in, his white feathers radiated in the LED lights. His thick French accent shone through as his anger was a dominant mood. "Where is Salis?" He hissed in disappointment. "Uh- P-Prince Tikashi.." The deputy sputtered, kneeling at the crow. "Stand, Deputy. I've already paid bail, release him." Touya flicked his wrist as the cell door opened to reveal Salis, who looked up at Touya with a solemn glance.

"Hello.." He spoke, his deep Russian voice rough from a short nap. Touya walked over and slapped his chiseled face. "Don't. " He lashed out at him with his eyes staring Salis down, making the teen feel small, yet he was larger than his best friend. Best friend Salis though to himself. Best friends shouldn't need to bail the other out... but whatever.. His thoughts trailed as he walked to Touya's car.

Salis growled, his shark-like teeth gritted as he looked out of the window. "When are you going to start acting like a sixteen year old and go to school." Touya stated, making Salis scoff "Speak for yourself... you wouldn't understand, no matter how many times I try to explain it to you." The larger male groaned. This made Touya's heart hurt, though he wouldn't dare say another word.

"I'm taking you to my house and you can shower, you stink, Salis." Another scoff from Salis as he mumbled a sarcastic thank you. The ride wasn't long, the palace sat on a large corner lot, as it was home to the king and queen of Ansival. Salis hated to be here, not that he didn't love Touya, but he felt like he shouldn't be in a royal household when he himself was homeless. Sure, he pickpocketed and sometimes had enough to get a hotel before sobriety left him in the late evenings, but Salis hated the Tikashi house.

It painfully reminded him of the home he had, which sat in front of the Tikashi mansion. The gloomy grey sky didn't help the mood as they got out of the car, walking in. Andy, the family butler, greeted the two with a slightly cheerful voice. "Hello, Prince Touya, and Sir Salis.." Salis rolled his eyes as his tail dragged behind his person. "Cut the shit Andy-" Salis started before the back of Touya's hand met his lips. "Andy, please bring a towel and a pair of clothes to my room, Salis needs a shower... and a bottle of my favorite." He winked and turned to drag Salis up to his rooms. Andy bowed and went to fulfill the request, bringing the items up within a few minutes.

"Thanks, Andy." Touya said, looking towards his bathroom as Salis showered, his water hot as it steamed the room. Salis cerished the clean clothes as he stuffed a tattered brown wallet in his pocket. "Thanks.. Touya.." He said as he laid on the smaller of two couches in Touya's bedroom. He laid in deep thought as he stared at the ceiling, looking for something to tell Touya other than empty lies.

"I'm sorry, Touya.." He whispered softly, his eyes slowly shutting after.
