Archmage to Duchess
" Judith Mayford, as the King of Onyx Kingdom I will bestow you the title of Duchess. Your greatest achievement but defeating the Demon King and bringing peace to this place will never forget by our people." King Yules Von Winter said, he is the old king of Onyx Kingdom. His black like night hair has become white, he grows beard, and has blue like ocean eyes. The king is also known for his generosity, intelligence, kindness and playfulness.
" I, Judith Mayford accepts...." she was cut off by the king
" I also bestow you a city in the east, The City of Mivia as your new land." King Yules said with a big smile on his face
" Eh?" Judith was stunned from what she heard
She was shocked to the point, that the king already prepared her luggage and send her to Mivia. Judith is still eighteen years old, she has lavender hair and green eyes, her body is smaller than her age, but she is genius. Her remarkable feature is the mark of knife from her right forehead down to her eye, to cheeks.
" Duchess Judith, I am your butler, Cain. If you need anything you can tell me and do my very best to help the hero of Onyx" Cain said with admiration
" Where I am?" Judith asks
" Mivia City, Duchess Judith" he replied
" Tell me this is dream" she said with a gloomy face
" I don't know what is the duchess trying to do, but I will comply" Cain said
Cain inhaled and said, 'This is a dream, Duchess Judith"
" That f****** old man! What did I do to deserve this, I want to be lazy, I want to rest" Judith cried while cursing the king
" You can rest, Duchess Judith. Rebecca" Cain calls a girl with same age as Judith, she has brown hair, and hazelnut color eyes.
" Duchess Judith, I will take care of you. If you want to rest I can bring you to your room. Inhale and exhale duchess. You will be fine" Rebecca said calming Judith
" Really? " Judith asks and Rebecca nods
That day Judith sleeps at her room, wishing that all of this was a dream. But, dream and reality is different and Judith's reality is that when she open her eyes, she is inside of a room in her new mansion at Mivia.
" NOOOOOOOO!!!!!!" Judith shouts as she opens her eyes
Rebecca heard it and run, " Duchess!"
" Are you alright?" she added
" You lied to me, you said everything will be okay? Then why am I still here at Mivia?" Judith asks
" Because, you are our new Duchess" Rebecca replied
" That old man, he even didn't reconsider my age, I hope that all his hair will fall out, he must be planning this for a long time" Judith mumbles as she is making a face that want to kill
" Duchess, are you hurt?" Cain rushed inside the room and worried
" Why me?" Judith asks
" Duchess?" Rebecca is worried
" Is the duchess doesn't want to rule Mivia City? It must because we are near the waste land. Beasts often come here, we are a big city, we also rich in mines, but our city is not glamorous" Rebecca added in an anxious tone
" No!" Judith protests
" No, it's not that. I... We both are the same in age. I can't rule a big city like this. They say I am the greatest, the youngest archmage, the best in our family. But, I am not adult, I can't... I don't know if I am suited to do this. I might make things worse, besides all I want is to have a leisure life after defeating the Demon King, I also never want to be in that war. I was only twelve, when my crazy father leave me for a war between trolls." Judith said everything in her heart
" I am sorry," she added
The two already understand what is happening, they both kneel in front of her.
" I, Cain will do my best to assists you. I know that this may be hard on you, I know where you are coming from. I know that you are a child. The first time I received the letter from the king, I myself want to decline it, but I become selfish that I forgot that you are still young. The bast... the king, let's make him regret his decision" Cain said
" He almost called King Yules bastard" Judith thought to herself when she heard the butler. But, more than that she feels that she will be in good hands
" My turn, I Rebecca will make sure that the Duchess is healthy and happy. I will help you. I idolized you, all of the persons here in the mansion like the Duchess that we forgot that you also have worries. I will rely them your message" Rebecca said
" Please, don't rely it to them. It's embarrassing" Judith said hiding her face in the pillows
" Duchess, they are all outside your door, they are worried so they heard everything" Cain said
" This is embarrassing, let them open the door. I want to tell all of you something" Judith said
Cain opens the door and all the mansion personnel is there. Judith wanted to run, she wanted to turn her back to these people, but seeing them how worried they are. Seeing how passionate they were, she decided to continue.
" I Duchess Judith Mayford. I will be the lady and owner of this mansion and so is the whole city. First, the word duchess is too awkward. Please call me Lady Judith" she said
" We will comply, but if there will be a guest we have to call you duchess" Cain replied
" Got it, next is I don't have any idea managing a whole city, I need persons that will teach me and help me" Judith said which everyone agreed
" Third, I want to become independent. I don't want to be ruled under that king, so to do it I will do my best to make our city good enough, that everyone can live here leisurely" Judith said
" We will follow the duchess" all of them said
Now, is the start of Judith's story. A goal to become independent to the point that she can rest and live her life to the fullest without the king pestering her. She visits the city, escorted by one knight and Rebecca as per her request.
" Wow, the city is... I can't find the right words" Judith said and looking at a city. It has few people, the house are in mess, there are no boutiques, the market is also going to die like the city.
" Lady, i know that the city is an utter mess. our economy is at the rock bottom, our citizens are few, only those who don't have anywhere to go went here, this doesn't look like a city, a dungeon is much more better than this." Rebecca said
" Wow, you, you just insult your own city" Judith said
" Miss Rebecca stated the facts, my lady" a knight with big build, red hair and black eyes is the one accompanying them, his name is Racoon
" Now that you are here I am sure that we will become the most glamorous, leisurely, independent city that you wished for." Rebecca said with eyes that is full of hope
" Yeah, I really talked big. Seeing this makes me want to go and find another Demon King to defeat" Judith said and sigh
" Don't worry my lady, Butler Cain already make a plan that you can follow and it was well written in a book. It has step by step procedure and if you want to add something, you can do anything "Rebecca replied happily
" We will start from a scratch, we need supplies. I can use my reward money and we have mines right?" Judith asks
" Yes we have, my lady. the problem is, it can be found at the east south where rock trolls are living. basically, you get the Mavia city, including the wastes land." Racoon replied
" That old man must be smiling happily throwing me to where most of the monsters live. Sigh! like I can protest to all this, Rock Trolls huh?" Judith is annoyed, just remembering the king
" Do you know who can mine? a citizen much better, we can give them work so they can earn. The crystals that they mined can be sell and we can start a simple store for our people to buy on" Judith said while walking and analyzing things
" The citizens here didn't work, they earn through selling of a merchant item at crowded cities." Racoon replied
" Then it must be a waste of time and effort, I am sure that they didn't get enough from that. how about the people at the mansion who gave salary to them" Judith asks
" The salary was given by the king, but according to Butler Cain the king said that he will still give us salary for two months. the rest will be your problem my lady" Rebecca said
" ..... I am speechless, do you think some men will mine for us? I can do something with the rock trolls" Judith asks
" I am going to ask tomorrow" Raccoon said
" Then, I will leave it to you" Judith said
Rebecca ask if they can go back now, its getting dark that Judith agreed.
The next day, Judith read the book Cain prepared for her. Like what Rebecca said it was in detailed, the steps are easy and she even can add her insights. Judith is determined to mine at the place of Rock Trolls and just waiting for Raccoon to come.
" My lady, I have come back" Racoon said
Judith was excited, "How was it?"
" The thing is... I am sorry, i am incompetent that I cant force them to do the work" Racoon said while kneeling
" You guys kneels too much, besides you cant force them, its wrong. Now, may I know why they don't want to do it?" Judith asks
" Can't I not tell? I might hurt your fragile feelings. Its better if you didn't know, we knights will do it" Racoon said
" Nope, tell me. I want the reason why, they are my people" Judith insists
" Well, uhmmm... they said that you are using them to gain more power and money. They heard that you are a ruthless mage that will sweep anything on your way. besides, there's a hearsay that you were actually thrown by the king and your family here. They put you in a place where you can go rampage, they all said that you are crazy. They might not be able to come back if they follow you, they said that you just do what you need to do and don't mind them" Racoon said
" Those idiots, what are they? gangsters? mercenary? a former thieves or whatever they are?" Judith said in a loud voice, she was irritated
" You guess right" Cain said
" What?" Judith asks
" Most of them are mercenaries, gangsters, some have retired from their dirty works. if you want I can cut all of their tongues" Cain said with an evil smile
" seriously?! sigh! Let them be, and Cain don't hurt who are living here in our city. There will be a day that I can get back at them, just record everything Racoon" Judith said
" Already done" Racoon replied
" I will go to Rock Trolls" Judith said
" You must bring all of your knights, my lady "Cain suggested
" No need, I will just take a stroll by myself, don't worry" Judith said and from thin air a wand that shines like a diamond appeared, the whole wand is made of diamond, the top of it, is like a laying moon, and there's a blue crystal at the center of it.
Judith tap his wand at the floor and a magical circle appear, for teleportation, " See yah"
