Chapter 1

Chapter One: The Hapless Main Character, Lee Suha

The flowers were in full bloom. The birds were singing happily as they flapped their wings freely in the wind. The leaves on the tree danced along with the feeble blow of the wind. The weather was in its best state and it was lightening up everyone’s mood.

It was indeed spring.

“Madame.”

How funny it was to imagine that, last week, she was shivering in the cold as she only had thin clothes to wear. However, at that moment, she was wearing an elegant dress in red-clad with an expensive wine that she could access any time of the day.

“Madame, it has been a week since the Madame locked herself in her room. Roses are in full bloom in the garden. Would you miss the opportunity to sightsee their beauty?” A gentle and soothing voice continued to nag her into going out of her room after some time.

It was a tempting offer, honestly. However, she was not ready to face anything in that world yet. She thought that she still needed some time to adjust and find a way to survive.

Hence, she replied to the owner of the voice with her eyes still locked on the scenery outside the grand window in her room. “Leave me please.”

It was then followed by a long silence. As if the owner of the voice was hesitating about leaving her master without knowing if it would be for the best or for the worst. But then, how dare she contradict her master’s order?

Thus, after a moment, the owner of the voice heaved a sigh as she replied. “Very well, I pray that the Madame will call for me to bring good news. I shall retire. However, call for me any time.”

Shortly after that, a sound of a door creaking open and then closed resonated throughout the four corners of the room. And as soon as silence enveloped the room, she placed down her glass of wine as she approached her table and opened a secret vault with a pile of confidential papers inside.

Goodness! The maidservant must be suspicious of her! There’s no time to waste, otherwise she might lose her head if someone would found out that she was not the real owner of the body!

It has been a week since her miserable life as Lee Suha ended. She did all her best to avoid getting hit by a truck, and she succeeded in doing so. However, albeit the fact that she did not die getting hit by a truck, she was smashed instead. Her last resort was to gamble by wishing through reverse psychology.

But she was born unlucky, so the reverse psychology did not work, and she was indeed reincarnated by how she wished for it to be.

It has also been a week since she started writing all of the events that would happen, be it small or big. As long as it’s related to her new world, she would jolt it down.

Because Lee Suha was reincarnated in the novel that she used to read online to cope up with her stressful life called ‘Vale of Tears.’ A tragedy-romance story wherein the life of the Main Character was full of hardships ever since he was born. His first hardship was his wicked mother, who would always beat him up because of his father.

And that wicked mother in the book was Lee Suha’s new body, Loreleigh Antoinette Spring-Gaumond. Soon, she would be kicked out of the house and meet her misfortune in the streets, and Lee Suha was writing everything she could remember to avoid having the same faith as the original Loreleigh.

Unlucky, unlucky, unlucky! She saw it in passing that reverse psychology is the best and it always works, so she wished to reincarnate as a villainess, hoping that she would reincarnate as the heroine. But look at that! She really got the body of the villainess!

If she had at least a tiny bit of luck on her side, she could possibly have transmigrated at the age where Loreleigh was still yet to be the wife of the Main Character’s father.

However, snakebitten, the moment she peeled her eyes open, the first person she saw was the main character with bruises all over his body, including his face. He claimed to visit his mother because it had been two days since the original Loreleigh passed out.

After that, everyone was prohibited from entering her room except for the Main Character’s nanny, whom the original Loreleigh kept by her side while claiming that she would take everything away from her son.

Surprisingly, the nanny still respected and was never hostile to Loreleigh. That’s why Lee Suha added the nanny to her to-do list.

After organizing everything, Lee Suha felt like she was ready to face anything and that it was her time to make a move. Which was why she looked in the mirror and once again examined her new body.

Porcelain skin that would shine under the bright moonlight together with her perfect body curves, wavy hair that was as black as the glorious night that was freely dropping up until her waist, mysterious sharp, phosphorescent red eyes that only she possessed out of her family bloodline, her nose that was shaped into perfection and lips as red as her wicked blood.

There was no trace of the bland Lee Suha, who would always have a disheveled look together with her heavy eyebags.

At that moment, Loreleigh had already abandoned her past life and was ready to fight for survival in her new life.

And her first step in stepping forward was to get to know her enemies. Firstly, her cold-blooded husband, who favors her concubine more than his wife. And second is her son, who definitely holds a lot of grudges against her.

While it’s true that Loreleigh was jealous of the Main Character for having a happy ending, the Main Character was still her favorite among everyone else. He was the inspiration of Lee Suha, who was struggling, and he taught her not to give up on life.

That’s why Loreleigh thought of giving the Main Character the love and care that the original Loreleigh failed to provide him with. But it would not be easy considering that he was abused for ten years.

Hence, there was one way to find out what she would do next. The Main Character’s answer would determine her faith.

“Anwyll,” Loreleigh muttered as she creaked the door open.

Even though the nanny begged her to call if she would be going outside, Loreleigh did not feel that she had the need to do so. That was why she went out of her room and ordered a passing maid to accompany her in the library where Anwyll, the Main Character, was currently receiving his tutoring lessons.

Seeing an unexpected guest, both the tutor and Anwyll expressed a shocked look on their faces.

“Moth-”

“My, my, Madame! What brings you here? We are still in the middle of-”

“Scram.” Loreleigh cut the tutor off. Her fake respect for Loreleigh was disgusting enough that she did not want to hear anything from her anymore. She obviously respects Loreleigh just because she’s the daughter of the powerful and most influential duke!

With that being said, the tutor was agape before she stuttered, “P-pardon?”

Loreleigh then raised a brow. “Are you deaf? Or do you want me to repeat myself?”

Hearing this, the tutor flinched. Just who was she to make the esteemed princess to repeat what she had just said? That was why the tutor bowed as she nervously got out of the library in a rush.

With the tutor exiting the library, there were only two people left inside. Loreleigh and Anwyll.

Due to the original Loreleigh’s negligence, Anwyll’s figure was far from being a ten-year-old child. He was skinny and full of bruises that, without Loreleigh’s resistance to something heartbreaking, she would have cried out loud seeing Anwyll’s poor appearance.

And to distract her thoughts, Loreleigh looked at Anwyll in the eyes, pushed down the lump on her throat and asked the question that would determine her future.

“Would you like it if all of a sudden, after ten years, I would treat you dearly?”
