Positive?! How?!
"Come on, Come on. Please be negative, please be-" I gazed down at the pregnancy test in hand reading two distinctive lines. A lump formed in my throat, the urge to puke again rising. "No, no! How?" I screamed, frantically trying to recall how I could be pregnant. 'It can't have been Jasper. Than who could it have...' I paused. 'How could I forget? Those gorgeous hands, enchanting gaze. The man screamed out of my league. And my name, but that's besides the point.'
Two months prior
"Oh come on, don't be such a downer Calliope." Alice chimed. Honestly, I was in no mood for the club but Alice had insisted. The night consisted of tequila shots and Alice consistently trying to get me to hook up with every guys she saw. Though I loved her, this night was beginning to get increasingly more frustrating by the second. I turned to Alice ready to shut her up when a pair of alluring eyes snatched my attention. A young man not much older than me glanced in my direction. He sat in a man spread position, bourbon in hand and a wicked smirk playing on his lips. I couldn't look away. Before I could think of going to talk to him, Alice snapped me back to reality.
"Girl, what is up with you?" she asked. I reluctantly pulled my gaze from the slice of heaven across the way and turned to face Alice.
"Sorry, Ally. Just not really feeling well. Do you mind calling me a taxi?" I asked. A sad look smeared across her face as she asked "Are you sure? Would you like me to come with you?" I turned back to the spot only to be met with disappointment. The man had disappeared while I was distracted. Ready to leave, I downed the last of my tequila, threw my bag over my shoulder and waited for Alice to call the taxi.
I looked down at my phone when someone tapped my shoulder. Whirling on my feet, I bumped into something firm. "Ouch!" I clutched my head. Ready to scream at the person, when an apologetically sultry voice cut in.
"I'm so sorry. Are you alright?" Looking up, fists balled ready to punch their lights out, my heart leaped in my chest at the sight of him. "It's you..." I mumbled. The man cocked an eyebrow, a devilish grin on his lips. "Two times in one night. I must be very lucky." His lips twitched in delight at my sudden embarrassment. Palms sweating, cheeks flushed, I turned to try and ask for help from Alice only to see her smirking and leaving with a guy, her thumbs up. That little bitch. The man in front of me let out a hearty chuckle.
Confused, I turned to him, completely captivated by his lips. The stranger composed himself and locked eyes with me once again. Something about the way he looked at me sent shivers up my spine. Neither one of us dared to speak, fearful of ruining the moment. Just then, my phone rang ruining the silence. "Oh, sorry. Let me just get this." I smiled sheepishly at the man before answering the phone. A woman's voice sounded on the other line saying she was my taxi driver. Confused, I turned around searching for Alice to see her back arched, pressed against someone I'd never seen before.
When I turned back to the man, his cheeks were flushed and he was looking at my chest. Before I could call him out on it, he caught my gaze and coughed clearing his throat. "So, who's on the phone?" I wanted to ask him why he kept looking at me the way he did but sensed his unease and changed the subject. "It was a taxi that my friend against the wall over there ordered for me." When I'd finished talking, an almost hurt look flashed in his eyes. Did he want me to stay? I thought. The stranger no longer looked at me, but stared down at the floor like a child that wanted something but didn't want to ask. So, instead of waiting for him to ask, I put the phone to my ear and said "Sorry, can I cancel? Turns out, I have a ride already." The woman on the other line agreed and hung up.
A new emotion flashed in the man's eyes, relief maybe.
For the next two hours, we ordered rounds of shots and spilled our life stories. Well, I mostly drank the shots. He barely got four in because I snatched the rest.
"Wait, wait. He dumped you for that skank?!" he huffed, the picture of my now ex and his new girlfriend.
"Nah, he didn't even dump me properly. I caught him screwing her in MY bed and he just laughed and said he'd found a new hot piece of ass." I spat, disgust filling my voice. The man, Samuel, was his name I'd recently found out, scowled. "What an idiot! Who in their right mind would cheat on you?" My heart pounded in my chest, blood rushing to my cheeks. Flustered like a school girl with her crush, I ordered another shot trying not to catch his eye.
After downing the shot, I glanced sidelong only to see Samuel watching me, his jaw clenched. My lips parted in a soft exhale and his grip tightened on the glass in his hand. Samuel continued to watch my lips. "Samuel..." I whispered lustfully. As if he'd forgotten where he was, Samuel cleared his throat and flicked his gaze back to mine, his cheeks flushed.
"Sorry, I- um." The man was at a loss for words. Chuckling gently, I flicked open my purse and pulled out my phone to check the time. "3:45! It's that late already? I need to get going." Frantically, I pushed my phone back into my purse and threw my bag over my shoulder. When I turned to Samuel, he was already standing, his height rounding at least 6ft2. Holy, sweet bajeezus! my thoughts screamed.
"Can't you stay for a dance? Just one?" he asked, hope in his eyes. I stood in thought for a moment, contemplating the thought of being wrapped in this man's embrace. Just as I was ready to decline, one of my all time favourites boomed from the loud speakers.
With a defeated sigh, I grabbed his hand and lead him to the dance floor. Samuel smiled triumphantly, his hands wrapped around my waist. We swayed to the beat gazing into each other's eyes like lost puppies.
"I'm glad you agreed to a dance. I don't know what I would've done had you just left without me getting your number." Samuel's eyes widened at his words. "My number, huh?" He smiled sheepishly. The way he held me made me feel calm for the first time in three years. Before I could second guess myself, I snaked my hand into his pocket. "Oh- Calliope, what are you- Hmm..." Turns out, it wasn't his phone my hand was touching. My eyes widened at the pulsating bulge growing under my hand.
"I was just going to punch my number into your phone..." my voice was barely a whisper. Samuel looked down at me with lust fogged eyes, his grip tightening on my hips. "I'm not sure which one I'd be happier for you to pull."
Blood rushed to my cheeks at his words, an unfamiliar heat rising in my core. Quickly, I pulled his phone from his pocket before I got carried away. When I'd punched in the number, I looked up at him and asked in a flirty voice "Anything else you want before I leave tonight?"
Samuel growled burying his face in my neck. A few seconds later, gentle kisses showered my neck becoming more lustful by the second. "Samuel..." I moaned. Another growl and Samuel's hands were on my backside, his hips thrusting forward forcing a moan from my lips. "Fu... Sam." I said, urgency in my voice.
Samuel pulled back, desire smeared across his face. He lowered his voice to a husky whisper and smirked "If you keep moaning my name like that, I will make sure you can't walk in the morning." My core dripped at his threat. I'd never felt like I was truly wanted, and honestly, the feeling was exhilarating.
"I-" I opened my mouth to respond when a dreadfully familiar voice screamed "Oi! Get your hands off my girl!" All heads turned to the commotion. Samuel' gaze flicked between mine and the man before he realized "Jasper." The way he said his name was like a growl of disgust.
