Beautiful Death`

Some flowers are a rare thing, some not. Sometimes new types of flowers are found. A new flower is out called pulchra mors. The name is Latin for beautiful death. This flower is intoxicating to humans but VERY deadly. The smell of this flower is strong enough to lure a person in. one touch from this flower will kill someone in three days.

“Dr. Snow, what have you and your team found so far on this new plant species?” Dr. Palmer asked, “what is causing it to be so poisonous to the touch?”

“We don’t know sir, half the team has died because the flower pheromones are so strong that they touch it. We haven’t done further research because of how strong the pheromones are.” Snow is frustrated trying to figure this flower out. “We still have to name it sir.”

“How about Pulchra Mors, it's Latin for beautiful death. The flower is both beautiful and deadly”, Palmer said with a sigh.

Walking home from work isn’t always a difficult task, today it is. I have so much work to do with this new flower yet when someone goes near it they touch the flower. Touching the flower will kill you. So far I've been careful to observe the flower and do research from a distance. But now I will have to work closer to the flower with only two scientists left on this project. Me and Dr. Palmer will have a lot of work to do to find an antidote before the human species goes extinct.

After a nice shower I went to my desk with a cup of coffee and started working more on what information we already had about the flower. Soon I figured out some more about the flower like what causes it to make people want to touch . Pulchra Mors was intoxicating because the pheromones had a toxin that signaled a part of your brain to move to the flower and touch it. The only thing left to do was to figure out a cure.

As soon as I got into work I found a gas mask and went into the lab with the flower. Soon I was using tweezers to put a piece of the flower under one of the microscopes. The flower was a mix between a rose and a lily. While looking at the flower you could see it kinda looked like there were DNA strands in the flower. I called Dr. Palmer to ask if he could come to the lab but to put a gas mask on too.

“What is it that I needed to see Dr. Snow?” Palmer asked as soon as he was in the door.

“Come look at the flowers’ petal in the microscope. Up close it looks like there are DNA strands in the flower.” I said. I thought for a second and said, “maybe we could use the DNA strands in the flower petal to make an antidote.”

“That’s a good idea, great work!” Soon they were working for days to make an antidote for this flower.

After two weeks they had come up with a cure that should work. All that was left was to test the cure by putting a drop of it on the flower to change the DNA strands. They put a drop of the cure onto a flower petal and looked through a microscope to see if the DNA strands had changed.

The DNA strands had changed and soon the cure was spread all around the world so it wouldn't be the end of humankind.
