Chapter One
“Amelia…Amelia.” Amelia looked around her. She was floating above water. Wherever she looked, all she could see was water. “Amelia.” The voice whispered again.
“Where am I?” Amelia asked, her heart pounding. She was terrified of being in or, in this case, over open water that could be deep and hiding all sorts of sea creatures. She always preferred to be on dry land where it was safe.
“You’re in my clutches.” The voice replied and the sea started churning.
Amelia looked down at the water below her and her eyes widened. There was a figure floating on the sea. It was in black robes and had a white mask over its face. The mask made it look like it was angry. The figure pointed a bony finger at Amelia. “You’re mine Knight.” The figure told her and it lunged up at her.
Amelia sat up in her bed, gasping and sweating. She rubbed her face. “It was just a dream.” She told herself. “It was just a dream.” Amelia turned on her bedside lamp. There was no sign of the monster from her nightmare.
Amelia laid back on her bed. She wasn’t sure if she would be able to get back to sleep but she was going to keep the lamp on. The nightmare had shaken her up quite a bit. She was hesitant to close her eyes but she eventually did.
Oceanus and the monster from Amelia’s dream were standing over the pit. The pit was glowing purple. The pit showed Amelia lying on her bed. It was clear that Amelia had no idea that the two were watching her. The monster was waving its bony arms over the image of Amelia as it chanted something. “Keep it up Akumu.” Oceanus was saying, full of glee. “We got her terrified. Soon she’ll be too scared to go back to sleep.”
“Oceanus!” Oceanus turned to see Zenzar storming into the chamber. “Oceanus, what are you doing? You need to be finding a way to release our master!” Zenzar demanded. Zenzar looked at the monster. “Who is this?” He didn’t recall Lord Slavic sending them another monster.
“Shush Zenzar!” Oceanus replied sharply. “Unless you want Akumu here to lose his focus.”
Zenzar joined the two and looked down at the pit. “Knight Dreamer.” He said, looking at Amelia. “What are you two doing to her?” He could tell that the young woman was shaken up about something.
“Akumu here can get into people’s dreams and give them nightmares based off of their worst fears.” Oceanus explained. “Apparently Knight Dreamer’s worst fear is the open sea.”
“This could work to our advantage.” Zenzar said as he thought about what Akumu was doing. “With Akumu, we could keep the Knights up with their worst fears. They’ll be too tired to face us and we can finally release our master.” He laughed.
“If we keep one Knight up to the point she’ll be too tired, the other two Knights will be out-powered by the next monster that Lord Slavic sends us.” Oceanus told Zenzar.
The image of Amelia in her bed vanished and the image of Lord Slavic and his ship appeared, changing the glow from purple to dark green. All three monsters bowed to their master.
“I have a monster coming to join you.” Lord Slavic told them. “One who will drive the Knights crazy and should make them weaker.” The sound of a cackling laugh could be heard in the background.
“We look forward to his arrival as we do yours Master.” Zenzar said.
The image of Lord Slavic and his ship vanished. Zenzar stood up and turned to Oceanus and Akumu. “Keep filling the Knights’ dreams with their greatest fears.” He ordered them. “I want them too tired to face the monster that our Master is sending us.”
Zenzar went to the balcony carved into the side of the mountain. It gave him a perfect view of Andros City. He could see the place where the excavation site was. “Soon you’ll be with us Master.” He said. He wouldn’t rest until Lord Slavic was finally free.
