The idiot wants to play
I always thought what my father did to my mother was normal and all families live like this. There were very few times when I saw my mother smiling, mostly when my father went on business, so those weeks were when my mother was the happiest, and seeing her happy would always make me happy.
Whenever mom and I were alone we used to bake together and watch our favorite movies. I used to ask the same question to mom when we ended a series “Why is she always so happy beside her husband?” and mom would just give me a sad smile saying, “because that is how it should be”.
Present:
‘When will the class end?’ this was the only thought in my mind. It wasn’t that I needed to be at some place but to avoid everyone around me, I always went to the library during lunchtime. The librarian Miss Jones had a very indifferent personality so if I didn’t bother her, I was allowed to eat, sleep, or complete my homework.
Somehow, I dozed off during recess and when I woke up, I was ten minutes late for my next class. Hurriedly collecting my things, I rushed out of the library running as fast as I could to reach the classroom. During all this rush I collided with someone, and all my books scattered on the floor.
Going on my knees I started to collect my stuff without giving any attention to the person who was the reason that I will get scolded by Mr. Pearson today. To my astonishment that person or should I say that guy; a very handsome guy got down on one knee and started to grab my books placing them in my bag pack. He even took the books in my hand placed them in my bag and closed the zip.
Taking my bag, he stood up, understanding the message I raised from my sitting position. I tried to grab the bag that he was wearing on his right arm as if it belongs to him, but he took a step backward getting out of my reach. Moving forward once again I tried to grab my bag but like before he stepped backward. Now, this guy was getting on my nerves.
He was probably skipping his class because he was in no hurry to go anywhere. I looked at my watch,
Fudge! It’s 10;15 if I go to the class now not only will I get detention but will also become the laughingstock of the whole class.
When I looked up, he was at the end of the corridor giving me a once over he waved at me and started running. At that moment I didn’t know who he was or where he was going but he had my things and if I wanted to get them back, I need to catch him.
Finally, after 15 minutes he stopped on the school basketball court standing straight like this little marathon was nothing but a child’s play for him. Whereas my heart was pounding loud in my ears and my breath was coming in short gasps.
Some students were running lapses on the ground, and some were sitting on the benches. I don’t know why he had stopped here but my instinct was telling me that whatever will be the outcome it won’t be good for me.
“What is your issue, you idiot”, giving me a deadly glare, she spoke to me for the first time. I met Say in primary school and we just clicked, from then on, we spend all our time together in school, and once a month we would have sleepovers at her house. That summer I was going to visit my grandparents but Say like always was going to spend her vacation at home. Before leaving I invited Say for a sleepover at my house and we spend the whole night playing on my PlayStation and eating all kinds of unhealthy snacks. “When will you come back,” she asked giving me a dejected look. “Don’t be so sad Say, I won’t be gone for too long”, I tried to make her feel good. “Ok, I’ll be waiting for you”, she spoke but this time with a smile on her face. But maybe I made her wait for too long that’s why when I returned, she had left forever.
And now here she was looking at me as if she had erased her past entirely including me.
