Chapter 1

Chance Meeting

The golden sun was about to set. The sky was spluttered with red hue and the evening view was mesmerizing as the greenery engulfed the horizon the hot coffee added to the beauty and peacefulness around the place.

Meera was writing her new book of short stories, building characters, moulding situations, finding appropriate settings and spinning imaginative plots.

She was an accomplished writer. An author who inspired thousands to write.

As a writer she had been felicitated quite a few times by various national awards.

Meera enjoyed the fame and love she received from her readers and followers.

Still she always remained down to earth, friendly and easy to go kind of person.

Sometimes she felt quite lonely and sad as even though she had a big name she was not a very social person.

Now in her mid fifties, she detested social gatherings or the elite parties , she just hated showing off or faking smiles at such functions.

Rather she would cuddle up with her favourite novels, over the weekend. Her kids were grown up and were busy with their own families and work.

But she loved travelling and as a writer this would relax her senses and flood her mind with new ideas or seeds of ideas to pen down.

Nainital was her favourite spot.

Here she had rented a cottage which was nested among the mountains, and had a small library and cafe in its vicinity .

One day as she sat there sipping her coffee, she saw a tall and bespectacled man entering the cafe.

Was it Abhay, suddenly she felt so happy.

At the very moment he too noticed Meera staring at him.

She was still wondering if it was him.

He was his neighbour and his best friend, they had spent their childhood together. Studied from the same school.

But as their lives got busy they left the city for work and marriage etc. Slowly they lost touch.

" Good evening Meera it's you I can't believe after so many years ".

As it was getting very late Meera asked what business brought him here. " Actually nothing much I had come here on the advice of my doctor " .

Mira then excused herself and then they promised to meet for breakfast the next morning as Abhay was also staying in a nearby resort .

Next morning Abhay sat on a corner table in the cafe waiting for Meera.

Meera waved at him. Meera told him how sorely she missed him and even after marriage she used to think about him. She told him , it was the best part of a childhood that she spent with him. She will cherish those moments all her life. Abhay spoke little but he gazed at her very intensely all the time .Meera shared the untimely demise of her husband too, she lost her parents too and now her life had only her kids and her passion she had for writing .

For over a week they kept meeting in the cafe for coffee lunch and cetera Meera poured her heart out before him .Mira felt quite relieved that finally she could share her worries with someone.

One day Meera was waiting for him ,it was her last day of her stay in Nainital but Abhay did not come, after waiting for him for over an hour she left but before that she went to meet the owner of the cafe she told him about Abhay and said to inform about her leaving . The owner told her a very strange thing he said he had seen her coming everyday to the cafe and talking alone for hours she was never accompanied by anyone. At this Mira was quite angry she was not going to believe this at all , but the staff agreed with what the owner said then what was she then was she hallucinating all the time . She phoned her doctor friend and she tried to calm her down .

Weeks passed but the whole incident was so strange, she could not believe how it was possible .

One day as she was surfing the internet she read that doctor Abhay Sharma who had died 6 months back, his son had opened the new hospital in the City. How was this possible his photo was also published along with the news I had made him a couple of months before what he died 6 months before sometimes truth mystery time all play havoc.

It is said in the mountains you often encounter souls which are lost and are still searching for peace and love.
