Chapter 1. The last son of war

Not much is known about the love between Ares and Aphrodite. Some say it is but a legend, a myth made up by those who have nothing but time on their hands. Others say it is one of the greatest love stories, one that inevitably ends in tragedy.

See, Ares was always described as a brutal god. A god with nothing but hatred in his heart and fire in his lungs.

So, for some people it is just too far of a stretch to believe that he fell in love with the delicate Aphrodite. A woman so far out of his league that he would do anything just to be with her. She was already married by the time the two met, but that didn’t stop Ares. He wasn’t just called the god of war for nothing. He made sure he won over the hart of love goddess Aphrodite and stole her out of the hands of her husband. In turn she gave him a horde of children.

They were called the sons of war. Every human who heard that phrase shuddered with fear and even the other gods couldn’t deny the terror that was bestowed upon them once they would wrong the sons of war. The ruthless gang of gods terrorized everyone that was in their path, seeking nothing but havoc and power. Even their father, the war god could not control them. It took the power of Zeus himself to punish the sons of war by sending them to earth with no way back to the land of the gods.

Aphrodite was heartbroken. Eventually she tried to have more children with Ares, but they were never meant to be. It was her ex-husbands jealousy that had stopped them from having more children. Once he saw his chance, he took the opportunity to kill her. Thus leaving Ares, the god of spilling blood, alone with nothing else to think about but a way to kill his lover’s murderer. Ares was not a smart god. He took to action with not a single thought in his head, which made him weak.

He was punished for the crimes of his children by never being able to kill the man who murdered the love of his life. It was the perfect punishment. It is said that he went crazy with grief and eventually went down to earth to be with his children. That is where he sired his final child. Born from the belly of a mortal and with nothing but the compelling need for revenge in his veins. The half god who would have the power to either make hell rain down on earth or save it from its final call. His name was Perseus.
