prologue

Some time ago Samuel Collins got arrested, in some way they found out that he was not normal, he was sick, a monster that needed curing, healing or even slaying. The Peacekeepers knocked on his door early in the morning. His mother opened the door, while his father dragged him out if bed. The still in pyjamas Sam got handed over to the man in with, no questions asked. It’s like they knew, like his parents knew why they came to get him. Sam tried to fight them off, he tried to escape them, but those men were too strong for him. Crying and screaming he got dragged out of his house, into a white van.

Not long after departure, they arrived at a big white building, the clinic where they treat or kill everyone who is not perfect. Like Samuel, cause being different is a crime in this society. The strong masked men pushed the boy in a complete white room and locked the door. “No wonder so many people go insane after spending some time here” the boy thought while looking around. No window, no sunlight and even the furniture is white.

Sam did not know how long he had been there already, but the time he spends in isolation made him think about his words of the day before. “We are no monsters. We’re simply different, it’s not an illness but an upgrade. No matter what they say, we are not like the others, but still perfect.” Back then he really meant what he said, but laying in that room, staring at the white ceiling, those words felt like a joke. The heavy door that locked him in this room flew open and the boy jumped up in surprise.

“Samuel Collins, you’re free to go” a deep voice started talking while a man walked up to him. “You’re a lucky one” the man said pressing a piece of paper in Sam’s hand and pushing him out the door.

The boy was still confused but walked out of the clinic while reading the not on the piece of paper.

Lovely Sam,

Don’t you ever let anyone change you. Stay you, the lovely, inspiring guy that likes other boys. There is nothing wrong with you, you are perfect the way you are.

A wise man once told me “We are no monsters. We’re different, but it is not an illness, it’s an upgrade. It is not a sin, no matter what they say. You and I are not like others, but still perfect” and to be honest, back then it looked like it was too perfect to be true, but now I can see that he was right.

The boy that liked boys, my best friend, he was right. Never forget to be you, like God made you. You cannot go to hell for accepting you, only when you ignore it.

Please, do not forget me,

Louise

Sam felt the tears rolling over his cheeks, he remembered telling her that they should always help each other, but he would have never thought that something like this would happen. The poor boy escaped the destiny society had worked out for him. Thanks to the girl, who killed herself.

The dead of little Louise Marron was the reason for the saving of many children and adults, it was the reason that people looked differently at society.

Louise had a beautiful funeral and got her own statue. She was a hero for a lot of people. But the sadness her parents carried was indescribable, also Sam had lot of difficulty with the death of his friend. No one will be quick to forget this special girl.

The story of Louise Marron, the angel without wings, who had never loved before.
