Chapter 1; Arrival and discovery.

"shallow ville stop,” the bus driver said and the gentleman stood up from the back seats and got off after thanking the driver. He stood aside and it’s drove off.

He turned and walked into town further, following his phone gps. Thirty minutes later, he found his forest cabin he had bought and walked in. Most of his stuff was in and he started unpacking. He liked it here, quiet and peaceful with just animals and nature.

Those who saw him when he passed through the town, one went to the town leader and said, “the new town resident is here,” the leader placed the document aside and said, “have Edward go and welcome him. let him try and pry information. He is human, it should be easy,” the stand in alpha said. The beta bowed and left. He found Edward, was the top beta before the untimely death of their true pack alpha. He came from nowhere and almost killed Edward when the pack told Edward to give up.

Having no choice he agreed to it, Edward with him, eric. Went up there to the cabin to welcome him to the town knowing the alpha will kill him should he even smell something off.

He knocked on the door continuously and didn’t open or be opened. Edward stopped and knocked thrice. The door opened a minute later but they didn’t expect a shirtless guy in his boxers to open the door brushing his teeth to open it, Edward and eric sweat dropped.

Both could tell he kept his shape up well and maintained and he towered by a full head at six three both guess. He went to close the door and Edward said, “wait, please,” he stopped and turned to them again, “um, we are your closest neighbours we thought to come and say hi. We saw them bring in the boxes in yesterday, we thought we could come over and help a bit,” he said. He raised a finger and they got the message and he walked back in and they waited there patiently.

He returned a minute later fully dressed with pants and a shirt. And no brush, Edward thought, ‘that fast. Even i cant dress in a minute’

“so,” he said and their wolves took a step back, “yikes, sorry. This better, my voice gets demanding at times. Didn’t mean to scare you,” he said to them. They relaxed immediately after that, “thanks for the welcome but i am already done with packing. Piece of cake, i will be fine,” he said to them.

‘impossible, there was over fifty boxes. How fast can he be,’ eric thought having seen the boxes day before.

“you don’t believe me,” he said to them, “take a look,” he stepped aside and true the place was neat and no boxes in site.

“well, i am Edward, this is eric,” he introduced himself.

“Jala, leto jala,” he replied to them and they were amazed his name meant wolf. He raised an eyebrow, “your friends?” he pointed behind the cars. Edward turned and found enforcers and he become alert. ‘is he nuts!? Killing him on the first day!? It will raise questions.’

Jala saw Edward and eric tense seeing them, “not friends i see,”

“not good guys also,” eric said under his breathe but jala heard him. he looked at the guys and then their hands, ‘empty, no weapons.’ He thought, he scratched his head and said chuckling, “oh, i get it. The town mafia, awesome. I have always wanted to meet the mafia,” he finished.

“don’t jack,” Edward said to their leader. Jack came with the alpha years ago. Jala caught his waist and observed this.

“orders Edward. And you went against them!” he replied to him halting in front of the cars.

“we know nothing of him jack.” Edward said to him. jala signed but they went on.

“exactly,” jack said, “thus the orders. Eliminate him Edward. Those were the second orders you received on transit,” he reminded him.

“he knows nothing, he just arrived. The second he knows then he is justified, right now he is not and you know that!” Edward spoke and jala noted between the two eric remained quiet as edwad spoke. So eric was more introvent of the two. Edward was fierce but not rush. Rare quality for hotheads. Jala thought to himself.

“he is the leader of this town. No outsiders, our nuber one rule,” jack said, and Edward groaned suppressing the growl, “eliminate the arrival. Make it quick, doubt he knows defence,” the four goons run for jala who remained leaned against the pole by the front door stairs. Edward and eric went to stop them but they held on, ‘sloppy attack, sloppy defence. Sloppy everything,’ jala thought watching the fight. Edward got hit at the thigh and he screamed falling down, jala eyebrows met eric rushed to him and that’s when he saw Edward had a bandage and he was bleeding meaning his wound opened.

“oi, jack was it?” jala asked turning to him, jack turned to him, “have you heard of property infridgement without owners knowledge?” he asked him.

“watch it. You may have bought it but still half of it is still ours,” jack told him. jala thought, ‘oh yeah, the friendly wedger. Idiots,’ then said, “don’t care,” the four jumped for him, jack turned to his car when a phone rang inside as eric and Edward focused on the wound. All was heard was a loud crash all turned to it and the four were crashing on the eric suv hard.

All turned to jala, “art of war, rule one. Never go after the unknown.” Jala said still leaning to the pole. Jack thought, ‘who the hell is this guy? No human can take down a wolf this easily,’

“i think, i don’t know. Not much of a reader. Goodbye,” jala said and waved them off as they collected themselves. Edward and eric remained on the ground. He walked to Edward and looked down and said at them both, “you both are trouble,” then he lifted Edward from the ground with one hand and carried him inside. He dropped him on the seat like a cat and said, “wait there,” eric stood there by the fireplace. He watched as jala clean and bandage Edward wound well and tighter than before, “shit men that hurts!” Edward said and jala tightened and said, ‘endurance to a warrior is daily. So endure,” and again making him scream then pass out. Jala signed, “unbelieveable,” was all he said. He did agree the woud seemed deep a minute later Edward awoke and found Jala holding a liquid above the wound.

“what’s that?” Edward asked him.

“something my grandmother gave me. I make it from herbs,” he replied and poured it on the wound. Edward felt like scratching himself but he didn’t. It wore off, “give it a day. You should be fine,” he finished.

“you are a healer?” Eric asked him.

“something like that,” Jala replied to him. they didn’t leave the place and waited for a full day,

“take the bandage off,” jala said to him. he did and the wound was gone. After months with it and not healing. Edward just hugged him saying thank you over and over again.

“yeah, you wolves are nothing but trouble. What the hell is wrong with the aura here?” he asked them and they were surprised, “douchbags i am a halfbreed. Now speak,” he asked them.

“the territory and the pack doesn’t approve the new alpha. Thus the confusing aura. Even the council were left powerless,” eric replied to him, “the challenge was fair and square. But we all suspect he cheated but we cant prove it. Thus we were left with no choice but to accept the new alpha.” He fiished.

Jala phone rang as he was bout to speak, “hello?” he said seeing the number was unknown.

“commander jala, it’s the navy board of generals.” The voice replied and jala knew he was on speaker, “we were calling for a proposal we have for you,” he added.

“oh, try me,” jala said intrigued.

“we lift your charges and be discharged honourably, under the condition, you serve two terms,” a general said to him.

Jala thought of it and said, “no thank you,” he replied, “not after what you did to me infront of the marines. I will take the dishonarable discharge,” he replied and ended the call. He walked away from his guests and to his room. He looked at the briefcase and his doorbell rang, he picked it and walked to the door, he opened the door to marines in uniform, he gave him the uniform and was about to close the door when he asked, “is it true? Did you go against the general orders?” he asked him and the other two waited.

“yes, i did,” he replied to them.

“why?” he asked wanting to know.

“i have my reasons kid. Go now,” and closed the door. That day in the afternoon when Edward and his friend left, the door rang again, he met the young marine, now home clothed, “you again?” he said.

“i just want to know why? You were the best, i joined the marine to be like you,” he told him, “just tell me why?” he asked him.

“the rebels i killed, they weren't rebels.” Jala told him, “they were Russian mafia and japan yakuza. But the higher ups said they were citizens of iran passing by. They didn’t want a blow back from Russian mafia and yakuza. So they blamed me and here we are, now leave,” jala replied and the kid jumped in. He signed deeply trying to calm down, “how did you know them? Please, tell me. Clearly, you forget the mission and went for them. There is more going on,” he said. And jala said, “for the love of my patience. I will ask you to leave,”

“i am not,” he said and jala threw him out and closed the door. The young marine left and went to a friend who was then a hacker.

“lookie, mason is back!” the friend said to him hugging him.

“thanks jarl,” he replied letting go of the hug, “i need your help,” he told him.

“sure, what do you want?” jarl asked him.

“it’s not legal jarl,” mason said to him, jarl rose an eyebrow, “dude you in trouble?” jarl asked him as he sat in front of system, “no. I need information on a classified mission. Titled mission evax.” He told him.

Jarl turned and searched for it, “sure, it’s there. but it’s pentagon mason, you sure about this?” he asked him.

“yeah, i need a clean file.” Mason replied to him. an hour later he gave him the file. He got to his home and read the file and was surprised seeing jala wasn’t even being discharged, it was the generals who discharged him. he paced for hours then made a plan and sealed the mission file in a postage mail and sent it to the navy investigations unit. They investigate anyone before they are dishonarably discharged.

Back with jala, he was still studying the town and it’s people. He hadn’t seen Edward and eric in two days or anyone he knew and liked it that way. He was walking to his car when the navy unit pulled up. He groaned and got in driving off. He didn’t stop no matter what they did. he arrived and pulled out his grocieries walking to his door, “you have already destroyed my life. What else do you need? A medal saying congratulations?” he asked the agents opening his door.

“we need to know who sent us the file on your last mission," A lady said to him, jala turned to her placing the groceries on the table, “it detailed on what happened down there clearing your name” she added.

“how the hell am i supposed to know that? I no longer have any gadgets. Look around you, the fbi matched in here yesterday and carried every gadget i had. Please kindly leave,” he replied and true not even a tv was present.

“and your tags?” a gentleman asked him. jala turned to him and now was pissed off, “and you are?” he asked the gentleman.

“these days, i have seen soldiers and spies use tags as memory cards,” he replied to him, “we just want to be thorough.” He said and jala tensed, “we shall be taking the tags,” he said going for the tags. But he met himself on one knee with his gun to the head.

“woah, calm down! Everyone! put your guns down!” the lady said to the agents in the room.

“him first,” one agent said indicating to jala. The lady noted, his speed was fast they barely reacted.

“do what she says,” Edward said and pointed his to the agent who spoke, others appeared and the numbers evened out, “now,” eric said. They did seeing they are out numbered.

“who said the tags i have on are military? You should be more careful,” jala said to the agent still down on one knee, “these tags are a family heir loam. These tags, are the very first tags ever made in any military history or war fare. You think i will just surrender them to you? You have to be incredibly stupid,” he finished and threw his guns to the lady who caught it, “get up and get out and give your bosses this. One more agency on my door and they all owe me. Get the hell out,” he threw a document at him from the table. Edward pulled back and opened the door. They left.

She opened the document and gasped, “no way,” she said.

“what is it now?” the agent asked.

“he is protected by the white house. If any agency what’sover be it cia or Interpol get close withing one kilometre of him. they are to be arrested and charged with personal harassment. To the president answering as to what they want with commander jala,” she replied and all signed.

“he was the only one with the answers we wanted,” the agent said.
