Amoris's Fate

I hear the distant noises of my parents calling for me through the darkness but I continue running. The icy air stings my lungs and makes it hard for me to breath but I continue. Today was supposed to be a good day for me, the day that I would officially be a part of my parents tribe and begin training to be the chieftess of the Xeno Tribe, but of course something had to go wrong. The initiation process of the Xeno Tribe is secret, so secret that only the people that have went through initiation know about it, so I had no idea what I would have to do to become member of my tribe. When I showed up in the initiation hall I was confused. I was being offered weapons and armor. 'Do I have to fight one of the warriors?' I thought as I put my armor on. I picked up a gleaming battle axe, one of my favorite weapons and put it over my shoulder. "Are you ready to be initiated and become a true member of the Xeno Tribe?" One of the elders that would have initiated me asked. "Yes" I said bowing slightly. "Daughter of Alhoman the Almighty, your task is to kill the dragon that we will release in just a few moments" another elder said. I gasped dropping my axe. "Do you accept?" the same elder asked, not noticing my surprise. It took me a moment to answer. "No!" I yelled. I struggled to remove my armor and threw it down before leaving the hall and running through the village. I knew that my whole tribe is dragon hunters, my family among the best of them, but I didn't think I would have to kill one to join the tribe. 'Father and Mother are going to kill me' I thought sadly. I could never kill a dragon, I love dragons despite the danger they pose to man. I was hoping that once I become chieftess I would be able to make our tribe see that dragons dont have to be our enemy, but now I know that I cant even become a member of the tribe. By tonight word will have spread about me refusing to kill a dragon and the council will exile me. I ran up the hill to my house and threw open the door. My mother and father look at me in surprise. "Well you finished that rather quickly didn't you?" Father says chuckling. I ignore him and run to my room. It was almost dark when my Father and Mother got news of what had happened, as I wouldn't open my door and talk to them. My brother Omorin came home, I could hear him mention my name and initiation and I knew I had only a moment before my Father would explode. "AMORIS DEIN FRIGHTBURG THE SECOND, GET DOWN HERE THIS INSTANT" Father yelled shaking the house. I gathered my courage and slowly crept downstairs. My brother sat by the fire with a smug smirk. My father had become red and the veins in his forehead began throbbing, my mother looked only slightly less angry. "What is this we hear about you refusing to kill a dragon?!" Mother asks in a hushed tone. I would rather her yelled because the voice she used was scarier than yelling could ever be. "Why would I kill a dragon that did nothing to me?" I asked softly. "Speak up disgrace!" Father barked angrily making my eyes widen. "I asked, why would I kill a dragon that did nothing to me?" I say a bit louder and with more courage. Father looked positively pissed at this point. "Why?! Well because you're a Frightburg and it's what we do!" Mother yelled. "We are Dragon Hunters! And you will be one too, if you even want a chance of being Chieftess, now we have told the elders that you came home sick and that you will be ready to kill the dragon by tomorrow. If you refuse to do so again you will not become Chieftess and you may even be exiled" Father said angrily. "Dont bother. Im leaving" I said angrily in return. I run back into my room and get dressed in more suitable outdoor wear. I grabbed my battle axe and strapped it to my back so it wouldnt fall off before heading downstairs. "Bye Father, bye Mother, and I hope you become a great Chief Omorin" I say before opening the door and leaving. Now I collapse to the ground weeping. What have I done? I should have killed the dragon, one dragon dead would have been enough to make me chieftess and then I could end the sport of hunting dragons and begin trying to befriend them, but of course I had to be a coward and run away. Suddenly I hear a branch snap nearby. I look around alert, my hand on the hilt of my axe as I stand up. When no other sounds are heard I continue forward, I couldn't return home now. A small plan forms in my head and I start briskly walking. If i'm not wrong about the way I took off running I shouldn't be far away. Suddenly the woods open up to a cliff side that overlooks the ocean. I smile and pull my axe out. I throw it to the ground near the edge of the cliff and walk to the edge, I stand there for a few minutes considering my options. I cant return home now that's obvious, and I have no way to leave without a ship of my own, so there is only truly one option. I do a silent prayer to Thor in hopes of a good afterlife and turn around. I breathe in and lean back. As I fall I see something white streaking towards the edge of the cliff. I close my eyes again and wait for death.

Those are my OC's so far, I hope this helps you picture what happened in the house. By the way before anyone asks, yes she will meet Hiccup and go to Berk but that will come later. I hope I don't lose interest in this (Like I often do with stories because of adhd) as I really like how this story is going. I hope you enjoy reading this story as much as I enjoy writing it!!
