Chapter 1

Start Debrah stood in the rain as the funeral went on. She stood beside her brother. He had his arm round around her shoulder and an umbrella above her head. She couldn't hear anything the minister was saying all she heard was the pattering of the rain. It was pouring a while ago but now it's slowly turning to drizzle and the Pitter, patterof the rain was echoing in her brain.

it did her a world of good because now, she couldn't think, not thinking meant not remembering, and not remembering meant not feeling pain.

After the service ended people laid their flowers on her mother's grave and walked away. Debrah stayed behind she kissed her mom's grave but she didn't cry, she had no tears left to cry, so she sat by her mom's grave, she began recalling the few good times she had with her mom. She then started speaking to her mom, she tells her mom that she can't fulfill her last wishes.

She tells her mom that she's going to disappoint her because she can't keep her promise any more then she tells her mom that she loves her. Then she gets up wipes her skirt and walks away.

"Miss Debrah, miss Debrah" Anthony called as Debrah snapped out of her daze.

"What is it?" she asked irritated.

"Your phone has been ringing for the past five minutes and you haven't answered it.

"So? what if I don't want to" Debrah retorted.

"I'm sorry but I was wondering if it was Adam and if he had some news about Liz".

"If he has or doesn't have news is none of your business, I'll handle my business myself thank you now get out.

Debrah picked up the phone when it rang again.

"What is it!" She barked.

"And hello to you too sis," the caller said and chuckled.

Debrah softened a bit "what do you want Zayn? I'm not in the mood".

"What's wrong? Are you thinking about mom again"

"Yes"

"Debrah it's been Ten years already sooner or later you'll need to move on from the incident".

"I've tried but it's not working I feel so tired, and sometimes I don't know what to do. Sometimes when things are falling apart I just want to hug her and have her hold me but she's not here anymore" Debrah spoke softly as a tear slipped down her cheek.

"I'm here, aunt's here too, we're not mom, but we're here for you and we need you to be strong, you can't lose all you managed to achieve in seven years and you have to focus on why we moved back here. Don't let these thoughts make you lose focus or everything will be lost.

Debrah wiped the tear away and her demeanor changed "sure got it why did you call"

"To ask about Liz"

"I haven't heard anything yet, I was about to call Adam before your call came in".

"Alright I'll leave you to it, take care," he said and cut the call.

Debrah called Adam.

"Where is she?" she asked as soon as he picked up the call, she's in the hospital I've been trying to reach you since.

She was attacked"

"Spare me the details I'm on my way," she said cutting the call.

Debrah called Anthony and had him drive her to the hospital. When she got there, she was directed to her sister's room The doctor said she was unconscious but he was going to be fine, she was badly beaten but her companion refused to file a police report. The doctor then asked who the companion was to her and Debrah responded that the girl was her sister and that the companion was their bodyguard and that there was no point in filing a police report because she was drunk and wouldn't be able to identify the man who assaulted her. The doctor asked if she was there to witness the attack. Debrah replied that she wasn't but that she had earlier spoken with her and she sounded drunk, she asked about her whereabouts but couldn't locate her because she didn't notify her when she left home. The doctor said they could report the case perhaps there was a witness but Debrah said her sister might not want that for privacy reasons. She assured the doctor that it was fine and that when Liz woke up he could ask her himself if she cared to report the case. He nodded then left.

"How did this happen you were supposed to have an eye on her?" She asked Adam angrily.

"I did until he decided to take her somewhere else just for the two of them, so I couldn't follow, I noticed they were in there for a long after a few hours I went to knock on the door and when no one answered I broke it down and found her in this state"

"That nosy doctor was getting suspicious but don't worry I've cleared the air"

"Watch her till she wakes...

"I'm awake" a weak voice spoke from behind. Debrah went to the side of her bed and sat down.

"What happened to you"

"Sean and I were having a drink and I started questioning him but he wouldn't answer instead he stared at me lustfully and I decided to use the opportunity to seduce him. I succeeded and he took me to a private suite in the hotel. Then he tried to force himself on me but I told him no unless he spoke I wasn't going to let him touch me then I seduced him some more. But the man is feather-brained and he doesn't have any info, or perhaps he does and he's acting.

He got a call from his mother I think and she wanted to know where he was and he lied to her, she told him to come home immediately and that they had something important to discuss. While he was distracted I found a gold ring dangling from a chain around his neck and I took it from him while pretending to seduce him. He didn't notice as I removed it from the chain and slipped it into my purse.

Someone called him while he was still speaking to his mom and I couldn't make out what the person was saying but suddenly he became angry and started questioning my identity.

I told him he got me and that I wasn't a call girl but rather a secret admirer but then he called me a liar, and he started getting violent, I fought back and wanted to escape but he called his minions in, they held me down and started hitting me asking me to tell whoever sent me that I failed my mission. That's all I can remember" she concluded then quickly added.

"I'm sorry I failed but I still have the ring though it's in my purse. Adam took her purse and handed it to her and she brought out the ring.

My mother's lost ring was stolen by Sean all this time.

I put it in my bag. "I'll be back Liz I have urgent business to attend to, rest now Adam will be here to keep you safe so get some sleep. I'm sorry this happened but it'll be the last time don't worry".

Debrah was on her way out when she bumped into someone.

Someone she hadn't seen in a long, long time.

"Debrah?"

Obsidian: He's hilarious. Like, actually. I loved it. You're writing style is great, although you could do with a few less murmurs and mutters.
