The True and The Brave
Alyssa Velaryon was the only born child fruit of the union from her father, Ser Leanor and her mother, Rheanyra Targaryen. She was born a year after her brother, Jaecarys.~ Maester Aemond, 200 AC
It was the most menacing storm king's Landing had ever encountered. Rheanyra pushed and pushed, her screaming consumed the Red keep. Ser Leanor Velaryon paced outside the birthing chambers. With Jaecarys, he knew he had not attempted to fill his duty, but with this child. It all fell into place, even the realization. This was his child. He adored his first born, but he truly knew it wasn't his.
"Let me help her, please. I'm her husband. I do not care what is expected of me. That is my child, and if you don't let me in, I will throttle you right here"
Without anymore protects, the screams halted. Both from the tried mother and the estranged father. Apart from the thunder that shook the very ground it was a cry. A baby's cry.
Ser Leanor pushed the hands of Ser Harwin strong from his as he barreled inside room. He truly admired Rheanyra, but he was stricken with adoration as he layed eyes on the child. Her blood was of that a dragon, yes, but also that of sea and salt.
The midwife cleaned the babe with a warm cloth to rid the hair form the blood. She eyed the pair, nodding at the awaiting mother, lowering the child into her arms.
Leanor had tears on his eyes as he stared at his little girl. All the love and the devotion was rushing out of him, wanting to protect her from everything.
"Alyssa. Alyssa Velaryon, Third of her name", Rheanyra whispered, looking at the eyes of her husband.
This child just placed Jaecarys in danger and peril, for the latter had pale skin and a mop of raven. Alyssa had tanned skin, not as dark as her father's, but Velaryon features were starkly noticeable. One feature particular stood out to both parents- silver hair and light periwinkle eyes.
The babe clutched her father's tunic, her soft purple eyes locking with his. He felt his breath leave his lungs as Rheanyra looked at the small cradle that had Jace and back to her daughter. They weren't anything alike.
Ser Leanor closed his eyes as he took the babe, "Alyssa Velaryon, Third of her name. I do not care about the queen's orders. I will summon an audience with both my family and yours. You had a violent birth, Rheanyra. This is my daughter and I will present her as such".
Rheanyra smiled gently, but knowing that her oldest child, heir to the Throne, was in great danger. She believed her father would spare her, just as he always did. That is why she had decided to name her Alyssa, for her father.
Ser Leanor was escorted out of the room with his daughter in his hands. He cooed gently at his only daughter, his legacy, the next lady of the tides.
"Your serene graces, mother, father, Rheanyra's pregnancy was arduous, but she prevailed. She is resting, but I wanted to present my daughter. Alyssa Velaryon, Third of her name, stormborn, and heir of the driftwood throne".
Viserys was the first one to gasp at the name, unshed tears swallowing his gulit. He saw the little child, urging Laenor to pass her nto his arm's.
"She looks just like her, just like my mother. Well done, Ser Laenor. She will be this realms little love", he grasped the child with love. Apart from the distinctive Velaryon features, the rest of her was his late mother. The curve of her nose, the swell of her lips, to the light violet of her eyes.
Alicent smiled softly, her hand shooting to the babe's hair, slowly bringing down the sheets that covered it before. A small yet noticeable frown took her features.
"I congratulate you, Ser Laenor. She looks just like you. Perhaps Prince Jaecarys took more after his mother..."
See Laenor smiled and passed the child to his mother, who looked in adoration. She hadn't been able to see her daughter, who was now pregnant. This was her first grandchild, the only one she'd recognize.
"My son, she is beautiful. Look Corlys, she has your hair. The salt and the sea runs through her veins. Did you choose a dragon egg to share her cradle?".
In truths, a rare egg was found on driftmark two moons ago. Lord Corlys found the egg, submerged in water, but around it, small bubbles of heat sizzled. He thought of Jaecarys, but he has Vermax. But his sweet granddaughter.
"Yes. The egg I found on Driftmark"
Viserys interjected, he only trusted those eggs hatched with the dragon keepers at Dragonstone. For those are true. This egg could well not hatch at all.
"Surely you not mean that egg. Lord Corlys. We do not know who hatched it".
"My daughter will have that egg. If it doesn't hatch, I'll give her seasmoke. Your grace, something tells me that it will hatch. If she is anything alike your late mother, she will be strong and resilient", Leanor said, his voice unwavering. This is his daughter. His own flesh and blood.
"She is. The spirit of my beloved late mother lives inside her. If you excuse me. Ser, Lord Corlys, consin, I must retire to my chambers".
Laenor entered Rheanyra's Chambers once again. He found her sleeping, but did not stop him from pulling a chair beside her bed. He held his daughter to his chest as he swayed his arm's. Making little Alyssa sleep instantly . He smiled at the sight, he only sought friendships and duty with Rheanyra, she had given his daughter.
"My daughter. My little Alyssa. I will protect you from everything. You made me happiest man alive. I vow that now danger shall come to you. I love you, my little Alyssa".
