One - Cheaters Never Change
-Evie-
I was working a shift at the diner when my phone blared, indicating someone was trying to get a hold of me. It was a continuous blare and it didn't stop until I went out back to answer it. "Hello? Evie Dupont speaking." I whisper when someone passes me.
"Evie, it's Markov, I can't do dinner tonight. I'm sick..." He whispered and added in a cough, making me worried immediately.
"O-Oh... are you okay?" I ask as I take a sip of cherry cola, my eyes wandering across the many lights in the busy street.
"Yes, sweet girl. I'm great." He whispers again and coughs harshly. I nod even though he can't see me and wish him a goodbye.
Going inside, I walk up to Priscilla and ask, "Hey Cilla... I was wandering if I could ask you a favour..." ο»Ώ
Priscilla is wiping down the bench as I ask her this and she stops to look up at me. "Yeah?"
...
And that's how I end up outside of his apartment, soup in one hand, tea in the other. So, sliding the key into the lock, I unlocked the apartment and stepped inside, only to hear the sound of creaking and light breathy moans...
No... no..
I place the tea and soup down on the bench before slowly moving towards the bedroom. And as soon as I get to the door, the noises get louder..?
Opening the door, I stop dead as I see Markov, grinding down on some woman. Nausea swirls deep within and I have to physically stop myself from throwing up on the floor.
My wolf stirs as I stare at the scene in front of me. I'm angry-no, furious! My heart feels like it's just shattered into a billion pieces as he continues rocking against her.
Kira, my wolf whimpers and says in my mind, "Evie-"
"I know, I know Kira." I whimper back, eyes watering as I decide its finally time to break... this up.
"Markov!" I yell, eyes clearing as they scramble off each other. My eyes stay glued to the wall as they scutter over to grab their clothes and put them on.
"What are you doing here Evie?!" He screams as he pulls his boxers up to his hips.
"I could ask you the same damn thing!" I yell back as I watch his, his skank get dressed and see her smirk as she's doing so. "Would you like to introduce me to your 'friend' Markov?"
He stays quiet as they get dressed and my scowl only increases as he finishes. "Do you know how much of a damn asshole you are Markov? Do you? Because you've seriously ruined everything by doing this." I rage as I pace the room. My heart rate increases as I stop and point at him. "You. You and I are done. And I never, ever want to see you again. I promise you I will never want to be with you again."
"Good! Because I didn't even want to be with you in the first place!" He yells at me.
I stop what I was doing and turn toward him. "W-What do you mean?"
"What I mean is that this... Was all just some stupid bet with Kyan Ponze." He says with a smirk curving onto his lips.
Fucking Ponze. I think as I glare at him. "Of course you'd make our whole relationship based off some stupid bet. How dumb are you Markov? Seriously." I say this, calm on the outside and shattering on the inside.
His face goes from smug to raging and within seconds I'm on the floor with a busted lip and bruises beginning to form on my cheeks and side. I gasp as he smirks again and goes up to his slut to kiss her.
Crawling, I hold my side as I grab the stuff off the bench before leaving the keys here and leaving.
...
-At the club-
I limp inside as I enter and head to the bar. Mia, my friend leaning against the bar and a worker working as I slump against one of the stools. Mia-being a wolf-can sense me and immediately gasps as she stares at me. "What happened?!" She yells as I lean back on the stool.
Wincing, I look at her and say, "Want some tea or soup?"
"Don't deflect Evie! What happened?" She asks again, this time calmer than before.
I sigh and tell her, "I found him with another woman, told him we're over, and he said that we were a bet. So I told him he was dumb and he slapped me, as well as punching me in the side..."
"What?! Evie, you need to go to the-" She tries to tell me but I cut her off.
"I'm fine Mia." I grab her arm and squeeze it, trying to prove my point. It seems that she doesn't believe me but she doesn't say anything.
"I swear, the next time I see that bastard I'm going to put him in his place." She growls, her wolf coming out slightly. "The council should hear about this Evie!"
"Mia, it's fi-" She doesn't let me speak, instead, she orders us drinks.
-Half an hour later-
Mia is going shot for shot. Drinking as much as possible whilst I'm trying to make sure nothing goes wrong.
Stirring my drink with my mini umbrella, I don't notice the new smell in my system until a low growl resonates through the club, It's so loud that it vibrates through the floor boards and made my knees quiver.
"What was that?" Mia whispers to me as I look up and around the room to assess for threats.
"I don't know...?" I whisper as I shrug and turn back to my drink and take a small sip of it. I frown into my drink again as I smell something good, something like cedar and sandalwood, warm and creamy every time I breathe in.
Another growl sounds again when someone pushes me into the bar, making me wince. "Sorry." They mutter and rush off.
"Okay, something weirds going on Evie." Mia whispers as she looks around.
"I know." I whisper as I look around again, trying to find the source of the amazing smell and growling. My eyes roam around the dance floor and I immediately regret it when a guy makes eye contact with me and comes up to us.
"Would you like to dance?" A guy with a baggy band T-shirt and baggy shorts asks me.
I don't want to say yes but I do anyway. What do I have to lose anyway?
-A few minutes later-
The guy pulls me in closer by the waist and I internally wince, his grip is really strong. We're swaying and vibing to the music when another low, gravelly growl sounds so loud that I flinch against him. "What was that?" He asks with a small frown on his face.
"I don't know...?" I murmur, looking around only to find a big pair of glowing gold eyes stuck on me like I'm their prey. I pull back from the guy with blonde hair and brown eyes and say, "I-I really need to go, I'm sorry... Jeremy?" I question, not remembering his name.
"It's Jerry." He says bluntly and pushes me harshly out of his hold. I stumble over myself as I make my way back to Mia.
"I'm still pissed." Mia whispers with a frown. "I mean how can he do this to you? He's such an asshole!" She grumbles with a scoff.
I nod in agreement and take another sip of my drink. "Yeah... total asshole."
My eyes flick back around the club and I gasp as I find the golden eyes stuck on me again. "What the-" The growl vibrates through the floor as it rumbles throughout the room. "I'll be right back Mia." I whisper and move toward the gold eyes tracking me like I'm their prey. I bump into someone and apologise before continuing toward the eyes.
I continue walking down through the crowd of people, my eyes tracking the gold eyes and soon, I'm not even 15 feet away from them. I walk like I'm ready, like I'm finding my new beginning, like I'm finding something new.
I turn down the corridor and wow, a new, cedar, sandalwood and earthy scent envelopes in my nostrils. Slowly, I walk down the corridor and gasp as I make eye contact with the most gorgeous man I've ever seen.
'Mate!' Kira squeals in my mind and I take a large inhale of breath. as soon as she said that, I was suddenly slammed against the wall, hard.
"W-What the hell?" I gasp as hands cradle my hips and breath fans my neck. I look up and make eye contact with the golden eyes that have been tracking me all evening. "W-Who?--"
"Mine." A low voice vibrates through the floor and through my body and bones. "Mate." It sounds like two voices are clashing with each other and trying to get control of the other.
I suddenly feel lightheaded and pass out, but before I could hit the floor, his arms catch me, protecting me from the fall.
