Contest Terms

Official Contest Terms & Conditions

• Contest Period: Runs from January 9, 2025, to June 30, 2025. Any stories submitted after June 30, 2025, at 11:59 PM PST are NOT eligible to win.
• Entry Fee: Completely free! Simply publish your book on Inkitt and submit it via the contest page or through your work settings.
• Language Requirement: Stories must be written in English.
• Word Count Requirement: Minimum 20,000 words. There is no maximum word count.
• Completion Requirement: Stories can be ongoing during the contest but must be marked complete by the contest end date to be eligible to win.
• Theme Requirement: Your story must focus on hockey romance as a central theme. No minor mentions; hockey should be integral to the plot.
• Eligible Stories:
  • Previously published stories on Inkitt are allowed.
  • Stories behind a paid tier under the Subscription program ARE eligible.
• Ineligible Content:
  • Entries signed to or part of a series signed to Galatea are not eligible.
  • Fanfiction is NOT eligible.
  • Plagiarism will result in disqualification.
• Multiple Entries: Authors may submit multiple stories, but only one story can win.
• Contest Shelf Feature: Stories that meet contest guidelines and have at least 1,000 free-to-read words will be reviewed by Inkitt's content guidelines team and may be displayed on a special contest shelf in the Inkitt app.
• Selection Criteria: Winners will be chosen based on the popularity and binge-ability of their stories, considering factors including but not limited to likes, comments, reviews, total reads, and shares.
• Story Title & Age Rating: Titles must be suitable for all audiences. Story content can be age-restricted, but it must be marked appropriately in the story settings.
• Announcement: Winners will be announced within 4 weeks after the contest ends via Inkitt's Instagram and the Inkitt Winners page.
• Taxes & Fees: All federal, state, and/or local taxes, fees, and surcharges are the sole responsibility of the prize winners.
• Updates: Inkitt reserves the right to update these terms while the contest is ongoing. No changes will be made after the contest end date.
