I love Elizabeth and Costin and their relationship, his possessiveness in the end. I was totally expecting her to be pregnant in the end with the no sex with others, the awful nightmares and almost puking but it was also refreshing to be wrong! 🔥 Personally, I have no issues with the dark parts but definitely not for you if it’s not your thing. But again very well written. Wow wow wow honestly. I’ll give myself a month then read it again 😂 Thank you!! "

"It was my first time reading a dark story as i don't indulge much in this genre but i gave this book a try because of reviews i was intrigued and i liked reading it and their smut scenes,little disturbing but just have to read it for what the story is and not think much into depth or specific or emotionally.Its just different from any other stories.Good work Author.You wrote it well and i would have liked to read about Costin's pov."

"A well written, very intense story. It’s not just dark, it’s midnight in the Underworld dark! An exceedingly brutal and violent romance with very little sensitivity but some consideration for the value of his property. The warnings on this book should not be taken lightly as it is quite extreme but is in the main, consensual. A good book, a really good book. "

If dark stuff is all your vibe...
"I'm not gonna lie. This book carries more pain than most books could handle. I often wanted to "please exit stage left" as Elizabeth suggests somewhere 😉 I've read some real dark stuff, but this one stands out as being particularly fluffed up. Deeply, deeply unnerving. But sooo beautifully written! The story starts off with the reader meeting Elizabeth, a young woman who describes herself as having been "a whore once". We learn that she has been abducted, abused and sold to a brutal sex-trafficker (Costin) and she was then "rescued" to "rest and recover" from her "harrowing ordeal" at her family home. But you learn very fast that things are not what they seem. Elizabeth tells her therapist that she has, in fact, been "dragged away" from her "life" and forced back into "this artificial world". (Your first wdf?- moment). And just like 《that》her memories force you into a grisly confrontation and a pile up of “what the f%^&' ?!"-moments. Things escalate, and fast. You're going waaay downhill. Like, down the hill and straight to the blackest trenches of hell. Through the main character’s recollection of events that happened to her in the previous 5 years, we look through the eyes of the innocent about to become prey. But as her memories unfold, you are confronted with many questions. Is Elizabeth experiencing Stockholm syndrome? Is Costin at all better than those who hurt Elizabeth when she was taken from him? Or is he just as bad, if not worse? I've felt wholly captivated while feeling litres of adrenaline rushing through my system with each turn of the page (I need therapy lol). But this story, although thoroughly disturbing, also feels like an important message is being conveyed through the bloody, nightmare upon nightmare with a degraded-for-life-flavoured cherry on top, that Elizabeth recounts. It is existentially upsetting. As a woman, it hit me directly in the stomach. The conditions Elizabeth are forced to struggle with are so desolate it immediately hooked its nails into me. What ultimately stuck with me was the idea that, as women, we will never be able to escape the men who want to hurt us. So many women that are being abused and degraded in this story 😣 The idea of, no matter how smart, beautiful, courageous, we are, we can not escape 🤷♀️ But as you read, Lainey Mars somehow gets you to cling to the hope that Elizabeth, at least, will find her port in the storm. The funny thing about Lainey Mars is, while you stand amazed by her beautifully written but bleak observations about the human condition, or the remarkable way she puts together her scenes and sentences, a page later you find yourself contemplating throwing your phone across the room rather than finish reading the horrible scenes she comes up with 🤢 Highly recommend to those who like their stuff dark. Also to those who like to push their own boundaries 🖤"

It's raw , graphic and sometimes gets too real describing emotions and situations around the MCs that have a unique relationship. I read it all not because I had to but because I couldn't stop. Well written. Loved it from start to the end. Thank you for sharing your work."

"WoW, that's a very hard topic to turn into a love story, especially when you're safer with the Monster that buys you (human trafficking), trains you for his likes, vs the unknown greeds of those who should have kept you safe... Well Done!! And, 🤯😱😳 with the surprises!! I did laugh at the titles of "Thug 1 & Thug 2" that's absolutely something I would say too😉 🔥 Hot sex scenes too - the consensual ones!! (the other ones are horrifying events that happen 💔) "
