An Impressively ambitious work.

While romance and drama aren't usually my cup of tea the raw emotions evident from the opening paragraph had me hooked. The subject matter can be a bit tricky to work with, in the wrong hands writing loss and tragedy can often make a story heavy and burdensome and a chore to read but you handle your subject matter well and the way you lay bare your MC's emotions from the opening is a masterful stroke. Well done. While the pacing and timing appears a bit rushed in some areas this can be addressed. and, outside of a few punctuation issues I feel Girl In Pain is an impressive and, dare I say, ambitious piece of work and I'm looking forward to what lies in store for your readers.

Masterfully Macabre

From the opening to the final twist this story held me captured. Written in such a way that I could feel Sanderson's mounting anxiety and growing confusion. The pacing is taut and nicely builds a sense of isolation and foreboding and the dialogue crisp and tight with just enough foreshadowing to give the reader a clue as to what might be coming without giving away the ending, which was delivered with a grace that shows the author's mastery of the short story format and, if you haven't yet read "Happy Nights Inn" I have to ask, what are your waiting for? But let me be the first to warn you, you won't have a restful night at this particular inn.

Right Up My Alley

Masterful. I've been a fan of the sword & sorcery and fantasy genre all my life, my own work, ShadowWalker, is sword & sorcery set in post modern times, and all I can say after what I've read is The Unforgiven Tomes, The Memory Stone is like finding an oasis of originality in what was beginning to appear to become a desert of same old same old. While there are a few punctuation issues that you may want to address the story and plot is tight and your pacing is on the money. The overall flavor of the story? A bit cocky which, as far as I'm concerned, makes it that much more fun and enjoyable to read. I'm definitely looking forward to seeing where you take this as well as looking forward to whatever other works you might have in store.

You seem to be finding your rhythm and stepping into it. I love your characters, they live and breathe and their interactions with one another feels real. The story is interesting and I'm looking forward to seeing where you go with it. Another masterful job from someone who is truly mastering their craft. Always an enjoyment reading your work.
