The House of Hanging

In a village, name well known

On the outskirts, is a house hidden in trees of oak

And this house is known by all far and wide

For the legend of The House of Hanging

Still leaves many up at night

About some fifty-three years in the past

A tragedy in the house left the villagers aghast

And the crime is to this day unsurpassed

Because about sixty years ago

In The House of Hanging

A man and his wife had just had a baby

Now when it came to naming the boy there was a lot of maybes

Day and night they discussed for about a month

And finally the baby boy was given one.

The boy was named Bram

And for the first few years of his life

His parents claimed he would be the death of them

The villagers were confused however

Because the boy called Bram

Seemed perfectly normal

“He’s not even spoiled,” the villagers exclaimed

Despite the family’s bountiful wealth

Then on the boy’s seventh birthday

The family disappeared without a trace

This brought a look of shock to everyone’s face

Kidnapping was ruled out, due to no sign of struggle

And none of their possessions hadn’t been smuggled

For five years the case went cold

When the parents bodies turned up withered and old

Hanging on the porch, by a thick-knotted rope

The police were summoned and they searched the house

They found a hidden door beside the stairs

Inside they found the boy named Bram

Lying in a pool of blood

He had killed his parents

And now ended his life

So now the mystery of The House of Hanging

Is resolved after much sadness and fright.
