Rin Omada
In the cold darkness of a fall night, the branches rustle as a rich man hides in a log cabin. He peeks out from the window, his dark tuxedo barely visible in the dark house. Looking up in the trees, he sees a shadow with green eyes. Blinking, the shadow disappears and he walks away from the curtain. Sweat dripping from his head, he grabs a gun from under the couch and sits in a corner. He looks at his watch and then looks up. Feeling a mysterious draft, he looks at the back door and sees that it was open. Looking around, he holds the gun under his chin and the shadow appears in front of him with the same green eyes. The light of the moon beams through the window and the man sees a kid in a black long sleeve shirt, black jogging pants with black airforces and black leather gloves. The kid looks at least fourteen years old and he has hair as black as night that has a fade haircut which is also pushed forward. Their eyes lock and the kid says, “You’ve harmed others because you enjoy it. You find sport in ordering hits but the worst thing by far, is the hit and run you performed on a preschool girl. She didn’t die but the same can’t be said about you.” The man was about to pull the trigger but the kid kicks his hand into the wall and stomps on it, forcing the gun to drop to the ground. He picks up the gun and takes it apart before looking at the man again. His eyes now are full of anger and the man shudders. The boy grabs something from his pocket but before the man can see what it is, he stabs it into the man’s arm and injects a substance into his bloodstream. Immediately feeling the effects of the injection, the man’s vision begins to blur and he falls to his side completely unconscious. Hearing a creak, the ninja turns around and throws a kunai. But a man in white jeans, white shirt, and white cloak dodges the projectile. A tactical ax hangs on his waist and he holds a bow and arrow. “Connor. The White Ninja.” The green-eyed ninja spoke. Connor takes aim and says, “Leave Rin. I don’t want to shoot you but I can’t let you kill him.” Rin shakes his head and stares at Connor. Knowing that neither of them were going to back down, Rin charges Connor. He attempts a roundhouse kick but Connor blocks it by putting his forearm up. Smiling, Rin wraps his legs around Connor’s arm and flips him onto back. Rin and Connor jump to their feet and Connor throws a flash grenade but Rin kicks it back at him. The grenade goes off and Connor goes blind. The effects of the grenade goes away after a few moments and he sees that Rin and the man have disappeared.
Waking up, the man has a great headache but he’s unable to move. Looking around, he realizes he’s tied to a pole in a cave. Rin walks in front of him and says, “Morning sleeping beauty.” “You’re making a big mistake, kid. This is murder and the police will be after you.” The man speaks. Laughing, Rin looks at him and says, “I’ve been doing this since the day I learned how to talk. I have experience and I am very good at what I do. So here’s what is going to happen within the next three months. The tide will rise within three hours, completely submerging you in at least a hundred feet of water. But this isn’t any ordinary tide, no, this tide is called Neptune’s Tide. A special tide that happens once every one hundred years, so that means your body will be trapped here for the next one hundred years. Now this cave is uncharted and there is nothing of interest here so you’ll never be found. So once you drown in at least forty seconds, I’ll head home because I already cleaned up my mess at the cabin. By tomorrow morning, your wife will start to get worried and will file a missing person report. I say morning because you most likely left without reason and your wife is in on your scheme so she’ll assume that you were kidnapped. Your kids will be scared the first three nights but on the fourth one, they’ll begin to cry because they’ve just lost their father. The police will search for two days and then your wife will finally be forced to use money and will call the FBI to look for you. Three months will go by and CPS will take your kids away but your wife will be arrested because they’ll find the files of every crime you two committed together. And your family and money will officially be disbanded.” The man’s eyes shrink at the thought and tears form. “Please don’t.” He begs in a teary voice, “Don’t bring my family into this. These are my sins, not theirs.” Rin nods and says, “It’s pitiful how submissive and nice a mob boss can get at their final moments. Where was that niceness when you almost killed a little girl with your car and then proceeded to sue the family for not watching their kid. Well, at least you’re honest about this being your mistake. Unfortunately, you’re a little too late to be repenting. Now, it’s time for atonement.” The man shakes his head and says, “I can’t leave my kids. I just can’t.” Shrugging, Rin walks to the mouth of the cave and says, “You should’ve thought of that before you hit my sister.” He disappears and the man yells, “No! Please come back! I’ll pay you back all the money, I’ll pay for her bills, just come back! Please!” Rin stands on the top of the cave and listens to the man’s pleas but ignores them. Instead, he looks at the rising moon and just as he predicted. Three hours went by and the tide rose a hundred feet. Rin walks away from the cave and into a city five miles from the cave. He sneaks through the alleyways and stops at the back of his apartment complex. He jumps to a ladder and climbs up the fire escape to his room on the fifth floor of the ten story apartment. Opening his closet, he hides his weapons and chemicals under a loose floor tile. He closes the closet and takes off his shirt, revealing a white tank top underneath. Rin takes off his gloves and throws them into his dresser before putting his shoes under his bed and walking out of his room. His family are a part of the middle class in Canada and they know nothing of his night time job as a Ninja. Looking at the couch in the living room, Rin sees his panicking parents as they hold each other while watching a true crime story. He sighs and walks into the living room. Grabbing the remote, he turns off the tv and his parents look at him. Rin sits on the table and says, “Don’t be so down. You heard the doctors, Susie only has a fractured arm and a shattered elbow. It could’ve been much worse.” Rin’s father nods and says, “We know but we don’t know how we’re going to pay for this without taking money from your college funds.” Rin grabs a paper from his pocket and says, “This is the surprise I wanted to show you before Susie was hit.” Rin’s mother grabs the paper and unfolds it, covering her mouth when she sees it. His dad takes the paper and asks, “Is this real?” Rin nods and says, “I’ve been recognized as the Second Best Soccer Player, for Junior High and High Schools at least. If you continue reading, I also get a five hundred dollar check every month.” Rin’s dad smiles and says, “This solves our problem for Susie.” Rin is a soccer player, he’s been one ever since the first grade and he’s just got out of junior high. He’s the best soccer player in the city so it wasn’t as surprising as it was relieving for his parents. Although they were a little surprised, due to Rin having gone to jail twice for aggravated assault against someone who bullied his sister. Rin’s mom looks at her son and says, “It’s late, you should head to bed.” Rin nods and walks to his room, falling into his bed. He’s been chasing this business man for a while but hitting Susie is probably the straw that broke the camel’s back. Normally when his targets decide to kill themselves he would let them and when he wouldn’t, he would at least tie them up until the police arrive. But Rin was so much harder on this man and he knows it but he feels no regret. It’s always been this way with him and his sister though. Ever since they were little, he would always be there to protect Susie.
