"Thank you so much for your help, pass my thanks to Greg as well please"
I said as I leaned into the main door frame.
"No worries, ma'am. It was really nice working for you, see you later ma'am and thank you so much for the tip" Young moving guy smiled at me.
"You too take care then" I smiled at the guy and let him go away to close the main door.
Once I closed the door, I turned around to look at my new apartment properly for the first time. All my furniture's and items have already been unpacked except for the two suitcases I took with me to the hotel till my new place was ready.
I took a deep breath as I walked into the new apartment.
Two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a spacious kitchen just as I always wanted, a living room with a nice view, two storage spaces. All and all, I am very happy with my new place.
This is my first time living alone, as I never had enough financial stability to be able to afford an apartment in London.
I moved to London from a small town in Scotland 5 years ago for work. I was 24 back then.
Till then I always used to live in Scotland but as I got a promotion at the company I work at, I had to move down to London. Even though I am not the biggest fans of cities, especially when it's one of the biggest cities in the world, I wasn't sure what was I getting myself into. So I was bit excited for the new chapter of my life.
I thought I would be meeting all kind of interesting people, and would get to experience that city woman lifestyle. Well... I miscalculated big times.
My dating life always has been a mess, due to the fact I am not exactly a beautiful woman. I am a woman with black hair and blue eyes. I get the blue eyes from my dad's side and hair colour and olive skin tone from my mom. My features would have been amazing if I was a tall, skinny woman but I am 5'3 and I am over weight.
As I get older, I only seem to get heavier.
Even if I do meet a man who is willing to date someone overweight,its mainly because they have a thing for "exotic" women or they have a fat fetish.
Naive 23 year old me didn't think too much of that but after 5 years, I gave up on finding love.
I don't belive in finding someone would would actually like me for me instead I focus completely on my work. I am good at my work, i am a perfectionist when it come to my work. So I am happy and content with my life as long as I can do my work.

Sudden vibration I felt on my Trouser pocket brought me back to reality. I looked at my phone screen and it's from my best friend Clara.
"Ello ello" I answered the phone.
"ELLO MATEY" Clara was shouting.
"Jesus woman! why the hell are you screaming?" I moved the phone away from my ear.
"Are you at the apartment? How is it? All settled? Give me a tour"
"Yep, yep almost all settled. Greg and his guys did a great job with unpacking. I need to still unpack my suitcases but it won't take too long. About the house viewing, come over tonight, I'll make something and we can have a chat"
"Nice one, did you call Bhanuka yet?"
"No, that bugger is too busy these days thanks to his new boyfriend" Clara and I both started laughing.
"I'll give him a call, would be nice to see him as well. He can't now complain about my housemates or how he is East London and I am in West London, and blah blah"
"You do a good Bhanuka impression" Clara laughed.
"Anyway sweetheart, I am gonna go, I am gonna meet Seth in a bit and then I'll come to yours around around 5" I groaned when I heard the word sweetheart. She knows I hate hearing chummy words like that.
"Alrighty see you later. Say hi to Seth for me, bye" And I hang up.
Clara and I met when we were in uni about 7 years ago. Even though she and I were not from same major, we both were in same societies. It didn't take too long for her and I to bond over the fact that we both are bi racial. Ever since then we have been best friends and she has been with me though thick and thin. About two years back she met the love of her life, Seth at the same company she works at and since then me and Seth also became good friends.
"All right, let's see what do I need" I opened the fridge door as I was thinking about the good old days.
"Hm......" As I looked into the half empty fridge, I realised I definitely need to do a shop run before Clara and Bhanuka come over. Good thing I have few food shops within walking distance.
I grabbed one of my reusable shopping bags and my debit card and keys just before I left the main door.
'Okay, I think we should have some pasta, what about bolognese' I looked at my watch.
'Okay, I got atleast 4 hours till dinner time, enough time to simmer the sauce' I was in deep thought as I entered the food shop.
Cooking for my friends is one of my favourite hobbies and I love spoilling them with food. So getting lost on thoughts about what to cook for my friends is not something new for me. I know its a bad habit but I couldn't help it.
"Aha" I took a step back as I realised I bumped into something or someone??
I looked up and realised someone was stating at me.
'Woah' was the very first thought that came to my mind. I was looking at the most gorgeous man I have ever encountered in my life. He is easily 1 feet taller than me. He has such sharpe features and the most gorgeous hazelnut eyes. His dark brown, almost black hair looked messy and he had bit of stubble going on his face and suprisingly that looked perfect for him.. I felt my eyes widen by the second I was adoring his gorgeousness.
"Alec, are you coming" A woman's voice brought me back to the reality.
"I am so sorry" I apologised.
'Aha I can die from embarrasement' I cringed at myself. I can't belive that I actually started at a man for a good minute or two in my late 20s.
"It's alright" His deep voice almost made me bit my bottom lip.
"I have not seen you before, are you new to the area?" His questions suprised me. I didn't expect to hear anything other than 'its alright' from him
"Um.. I not new to London but I am new to the area. I just moved into one of the apartment by the river" I smiled.
"Oh, so you are my new neighbour then" He smirked.
'God he is soo fucking gorgeous'
"I saw someone was moving in to the apartment below me, just didn't expect my neighbour to bump into me on the very first day"
"Again, I am so sorry" I bit my lip as I felt my face was heating up.
"its alright, I am Alec by the way and you are?"
"Nice to meet you Alec, I am Audrey"
