Chapter 1
Chapter 1: The Horde Fiendish
The air was thick with tension, as if a storm was about to unleash. Two opposing sides faced each other in the spacious room, their animosity palpable but unspoken. At the center stood a large table, dominating the space, with chairs flanking it, occupied by the powerful and feared figures of both worlds. No one dared to utter a word, as if the slightest sound could trigger the explosion of an impending conflict. The silence was heavy, pregnant with the weight of what was at stake.
The room was a wonder to behold, every inch adorned with lavish luxuries and opulence. The walls were adorned with carvings of intricate designs, depicting scenes of myth and legend, while the doors were fashioned with the finest materials, an emblem of wealth and prestige.
Seated on the right side of the table was Demon Lord Varus, the ruler of the demon realms. He was an imposing figure, towering above the rest with eyes that glowed with a sinister shade of red, emanating a dark aura that sent chills down the spines of all present. His body was adorned with intricate tattoos and symbols that seemed to pulse with an ominous energy, a testament to the power he wielded.
His horns curved back from his forehead, sharp as knives, and his teeth were razor-sharp, adding to his already menacing presence. The air around him crackled with malevolent intent, a sign of the danger that lurked within him. He donned a flowing cloak made of shimmering dark fabric that seemed to have a life of its own, adding to his already imposing stature and Zarathustra Bloodbane, his right-hand man, stood beside him.
On the other side of the table sat President Henry, the most powerful and feared figure in the human world. He was a tall, imposing man with sharp features and piercing blue eyes, always immaculately dressed in a tailored suit. His hair was slicked back in a perfectly styled coif, exuding an air of confidence and authority that demanded attention whenever he spoke.
Demon Lord Varus broke the silence, his voice echoing with a deep resonance that sent shivers down the spines of some present,
"As the sun sets on the final days of this month, a solemn truth looms over you. None shall be left standing, for the human world will meet its demise. The once bustling cities and towns will become a barren wasteland, devoid of any signs of life. The fate of humanity has been sealed, and its time on this earth has come to a close," he declared.
His words hung heavily in the air, a deadly promise that no one dared to challenge. He looked at President Henry with sinister amusement,
"Fearsome, weakling!" he taunted.
Despite the threat, President Henry showed no fear, his face set in a serious expression, with his clasped fists under his chin. This reaction only served to elicit a mocking laugh from Varus and a murmur of approval from some of the demons.
"Humans have changed, evolved even. The creatures that fought tooth and nail during the Blood Moon War are not the same as us now. The winds of time have carried us to a different place, a new horizon where we stand taller and see further," Henry countered, his gaze unwavering as he stared at Varus.
"Evolved? Hah! Don't make me laugh. Though your form may have evolved, your weakness remains unabated. Your kind is but a feeble obstacle in the face of the impending storm," Varus retorted, settling back into his chair.
"Henry, a catastrophe looms on the horizon, and there's nothing left on your part can halt its impending arrival."
he added, rising from his chair, ready to leave the room. The other demons rose with him, chuckling and murmuring sinisterly amongst themselves.
"The Horde Fiendish," Henry whispered under his breath, barely audible but still heard by Varus and the other demons.
The room was filled with a hushed silence, as the weight of Henry's words sank in. Varus was taken aback, his confidence momentarily stopped as he looked at the Henry. The other demons stood still, whispering and murmuring amongst themselves as the room descended into stillness once again.
"I, Henry Paalo Rouvelt IX, President of this land, hereby declare to open the Horde Fiendish, by the name of Satan, Father of all races, and creator of everything," Henry pronounced with a firm tone, his eyes fixated on the gathering of demons before him.
With his fingers interlaced, he stood confidently, unflinching in the face of them. Zarathustra, stood dumbfounded by the president's proclamation.
"Is that?" he said, his voice laced with surprised and bewilderment.
Henry began to summon a circle of red, mystic symbols to appear beneath his feet. As the symbols grew in intensity, thirteen black swords manifested themselves behind him, each appearing ancient and foreboding.
Varus, couldn't help but chuckle at the sight before him. However, as Henry proceeded with the ritual, Varus's disbelief slowly transformed into fascination.
"You've really done it," Varus mused as the other demons looked on with confusion.
With slow and deliberate movements, Varus walked towards Henry, his hands casually tucked in his pockets. He stopped before the president, looking him directly in the eye with an air of confidence.
"I, Varus, Demon Lord of the demon realms, hereby accept the declaration of opening of the Horde Fiendish, by the name of Satan, Father of all races, and creator of everything," Varus declared, mimicking Henry's hand movements.
As Varus completed the ritual, a circle of black symbols appeared on the ground beneath him, just as thirteen swords manifested themselves behind him. Without hesitation, one sword flew towards their respective owner, Henry and Varus.
The two leaders sliced their palms with the swords, and as blood spilled, the swords absorbed the essence.
In an instant, a massive aura of red and black energy emanated from Varus's body, as if the very essence of excitement and power flowed through his veins. Despite the intimidating display, Henry remained stoic and expressionless, unmoved by the demons' newfound strength.
"Henry, I'll be darned if you don't make this one mighty interesting," Varus said, with a sinister smile creeping onto his face. He approached Henry, his eyes piercing through him.
"Let's have a fascinating battle, a bloody fight, and let's see what you humans are capable of."
Henry stood there, unfazed. His expression remained the same as he stared back at Varus.
"We humans will crush the Demon realms, together with you," he responded, his voice firm and resolute.
Varus chuckled, his fascination with the Henry's confidence evident in the way he carried himself. He turned around and began to pace around the room.
"You humans are so greedy," he muttered, his words laced with contempt.
"Think not that your pride will triumph over all. The looming batlle shall put it to the test. Your presumptuousness will find its grave among the lifeless soul of your warriors."
As Varus spoke, he made his way towards the door, followed closely by the other demons in the room. Henry stood there, watching them leave. The air was thick with tension and anticipation as the final battle between humans and demons loomed on the horizon.
The sound of footsteps echoed through the room as Varus and his minions disappeared into the darkness, leaving Henry alone.
The room was silent, save for the sound of Henry's heavy breathing. He closed his eyes, his mind racing with thoughts of the upcoming battle. He could feel his heart beating in his chest, his body tense and ready for the fight to come. The weight of the world was on his shoulders, and he knew that he had to give it his all if he wanted to emerge victorious.
As the four figures entered the room, their expressions were a mix of surprise and confusion as they surveyed the area where the demons had disappeared. One of them was an elderly man, his weathered staff thudding against the silence of the room, while the other three were adorned in silver and blue armor, the emblem of the President's army emblazoned on their chests.
"What in the name of the Valar is the Horde Fiendish?" inquired the old man, Thabo Moloi Nkosi, who approached the chair with a sense of urgency.
Henry strode over to the chair, his expression stoic and unwavering, devoid of any fear.
"This was a colossal contest that pitted two opposing factions against each other, each consenting to beseech the malevolent spirit of Satan to be harnessed for the tournament. Thirteen combatants were to be chosen from either side, and with swords drawn, they would make a ritualistic cut on their palms, offering their blood to Satan, before engaging in a fiercely contested one-on-one combat." Henry explained, his hands resting calmly on the table in front of him.
The individuals in the room listened intently, their murmurs and whispers growing in volume as they tried to grasp the magnitude of what they had just heard.
"Human lives wagered for a mere tournament?" Thabo's question was steeped in incredulity, his lips curling into a contemptuous smirk.
"How'd you hear about this tournament, anyways? Ain't it something, the secrets you're keeping, Mr. President?" He leaned in, his voice growing more serious.
But Henry paid him no heed, standing up from his chair and making his way to the door without so much as a glance in their direction. Thabo chuckled as he watched Henry's retreating form, an amused glint in his eye.
"Secrets ain't meant to stay hidden, Mr. President. They'll come out of the shadows one way or another, and I, with just the one eye, am eager to see it all unfold," he said, his gaze following Henry's exit.
As Henry approached the door, he lifted his hand, fingers outstretched, and aimed his palm downwards. In that moment, a surge of purple radiance erupted from his hand, coalescing into a brilliant ring around his feet. And just like that, he vanished in a flash, as though a bubble had burst.
