Prologue

I could never have prepared for what was in store for me that day. The hours I spent crying were hours I spent losing pieces of my trust. Trust. What is trust at this point? I lost it ages ago. I trusted her. I will never forget what she did. If trust was a delicate object, she took it into her hands and broke it into a thousand shards. Shattered. Gone.

Cynical Optimist : You can never go wrong with a B. E. Harmel story. The plot is intriguing and the protagonists are mature and sensible.I was a little disappointed with the stylized writing. Harmel, a gifted storyteller easily draws the reader in by creating characters thatbwe can connect with emotionally. Hwre, she...

AS: The writing here is clean, polished, and flows so naturally that it was a real pleasure to read.Isla is a great protagonist. Her self-deprecating humor made her feel real (the squirrel's tail and the upside-down trees in the epilogue had me laughing), and her skills as a healer and her growth into h...

ymtjmd3339: Very good flow and worldbuilding. The creatures infested with wild magic are pretty cool.I wouldn't have minded if the leads would have yearned a bit more for each other. Chap 30 was the end for me.
