Chapter 1 - Scarlet

It felt good to be back, amazing actually as I sat down in the VIP area. Don’t get me wrong Madrid was such a special place and I had met people there that I would be friends with for life. But I did miss my friends in London and the ability to go to the club on a Friday night and not pay for a single drink.

“Welcome home Scarlet!” River shouted at me, raising her champagne glass. Her dark hair was pulled back and her outfit was tiny, exactly like mine.

“It’s so good to be back babes,” I smiled at her, lifting up my own glass. The VIP area was busy but I decided to only invite River tonight, wanting it low key and she was my best friend, the one I had missed the most.

“I missed you so much!” She squealed, sitting down and grabbing my face. I laughed at her, the champagne clearly going to her head. There was men around us or shall I say sniffing around us but none caught my eye or maybe I wasn’t looking hard enough. The music was blaring and I stood with River as she started to dance, closing her eyes and moving to the music. I was starting to sweat, my curly platinum hair was stuck at the back of my neck and even in a tiny black body con dress my temperature was rising.

“Oh he is lovely!” River shouted in my ear as I danced with her, looking up at the brown haired guy, a smile on his face. He was far too clean cut for me and I breathed a sigh of relief as he whispered in River’s ear, her giggling away. She put her hand on his chest and I knew her too well, she would be going home with him tonight. It didn’t bother me in the slightest, if my friends got good sex than I was happy. Everyone deserved good sex right? I smiled at the waitress as she put another bottle of champagne on the table in front of me and I grabbed it, filling my glass.

“Let me pinch some sweetheart?” A man old enough to be my dad asked, moving his head towards the bottle.

“I don’t think so,” I scoffed, putting it back on the table.

“Don’t be a bitch, you can’t drink it all!” He shouted and I rolled my eyes, I couldn’t stand drunk strangers.

“Okay I’m a bitch,” I chuckled, shrugging. I couldn’t care less what this man thought of me and I moved my head to the side, River and her companion was now sitting on the dark sofas, chatting into each others ear. The man ignored me, grabbing the bottle with one hand. “Excuse me, I don’t fucking think so!” I shouted, ripping it out of his hands. Before he could even react a man stood behind him, his hand on his shoulder.

“Time to go mate!” He said to him and my eyes grew wide as I looked at this beauty of a man. He was rugged, just how I liked them. His dark skin was marked with tattoos up his neck and a single diamond earing. He had lips for days, they looked like pillows and I had to crank my neck to look up at him. Oh, he was definitely a bit of me.

“What?! Why?!” The drunk man shouted at him.

“Because I said so, let’s go.” I watched him walk the drunk to the door of the VIP area and River caught my eye, giggling.

“Oh Scarlet,” she winked. I gave her a cheeky smile, putting my glass down and walking with purpose towards the now alone man, the drunk had gone on his merry way. My heels were about six inches but I was used to walking in such ridiculousness, coming face to face with him.

“Thank you so much,” I said sweetly and he turned to face me, with a small smile.

“No problem,” he shrugged and I could sense his shyness.

“I’m Scarlet,” I put my hand out and he took it, shaking it firmly.

“Memphis,” he nodded and I tipped my head to the side, it was an unusual name but suited him perfectly.

“What time do you get off?” I asked, never one to beat around the bush. Whatever I wanted I always got, never had a problem there.

“Oh, erm closing,” he stuttered out and that would not do at all. There would be too many people in one place and my dad would probably get me a lift home.

“Break?” I asked and Memphis looked at his watch, his eyes coming back up to me.

“In half an hour why?” He moved his head back and I put my hand on his chest, it was muscular and my eyes nearly rolled back.

“Would you like to meet me in the toilets in say half an hour?” I shrugged.

“Oh, I’m not sure,” he trailed off, looking panicky.

“Well, I will be in the disabled toilet in half an hour, if I see you,” I smiled my best at him, turning and walking back over to River.

“So?” River asked, giggling already.

“Shy,” I shrugged, leaning down to her. “We’ll see what he decides to do.”
