Two best friends decide to run away for the summer in hopes of rescuing several abducted children from a dark, magical being. CASSIOPEIA is a headstrong witch who is new to her magical abilities, while her childhood friend LINUS is more reserved and tactful. After Cassiopeia experiences an off-putting dream in which she meets FREDERIC, a mysterious but seemingly kindhearted man, it is revealed to her and the town of Moondrift that the child kidnapper THE BLACKWOOD BEAST has struck again and abducted several children in a town miles away. During another peculiar dream, Frederic convinces Cassiopeia to travel outside of her home to search for the missing children. She listens, also managing to persuade Linus as well. The two set off on their journey, perhaps too optimistic and excited. They are then brought to a humble village where they meet a mother who is heartbroken over her missing child. This gives them the idea to create a list of missing children whenever they come across a mourning parent. Cassiopeia continues to have more dreams often with Frederic teaching her techniques to enhance her magical ability; yet, the more she sees him, the more uncomfortable she becomes in his presence. As their journey persists, will Cassie and Linus be crowned heroes? Or will their terror of the adventure drive them to insanity? Find out in The Blackwood Beast
