Chapter 1
He’s staring at me. I know I can’t acknowledge him and give him that satisfaction, but it’s killing me. As much as he scares me, I can’t seem to get him out of my head. He’s all I have been thinking about. “Moon. Hellooo…Earth to Moon. Are you there?” Olivia, my best friend asked, snapping me out of my daze. I didn’t realize I was ignoring her and thinking of him for a whole 20 minutes. “What? Yes, I’m still here.” I replied. “What were you thinking about? Ooo, was it a boy? You never talk about guys anymore.” She frowned. I gave her a small laugh and smile,” No, it wasn’t a boy. I just zoned out for a little. I’m really tired, that’s all.” “Oh, ok.” She said and continued on with complaining about her boyfriend.
When I got home from my shopping trip with Olivia I slumped down onto my bed and let out a big sigh. “What’s wrong, my love?” I heard him speak. He told me to call him Roman a long time ago, but I usually never do. I simply ignored him and acted like I never heard him. “I know you can hear me. Stop ignoring me.” Roman spoke with annoyance evident in his voice. I sat up and slid off my bed heading to the bathroom to shower. He followed me and began to get mad with how much I was ignoring him. “You can’t ignore me forever. I know you love me. If you didn’t, you would have moved out already.” He spoke. I grabbed a towel and began to take my clothing off for my shower.
After my shower I simply went to bed. Before I fell asleep, I could feel him brushing the hair out of my face and caressing my skin. “My beautiful rose. I don’t understand why you ignore me. I’d give you anything.” He spoke softly. He then gave me a kiss on my forehead and disappeared. I fell asleep and he gave me a dream of him like he usually does. He’s been the only reason I don’t get night terrors anymore.
“Roman, stop!” I shouted and laughed. He was tickling me, and I couldn’t seem to get him to stop. He kept going with a smile on his face. Eventually he did stop. “You are so beautiful my rose.” He spoke, which made me smile like a Cheshire cat. “Thank you.” I replied and gave him a soft kiss on the lips. “Would you like to accompany me on a walk down by the lake?” Roman asked and I nodded in agreement.
We began walking on the shoreline of the lake and after five minutes he stopped in his tracks. I stopped and gave him a confused look, “what’s wrong, my love?” He looked distant in thought for a moment before he spoke, “you know this is a dream, but I don’t understand why you show me so much love in this realm and not in the living.” My smile dropped after he said this. “I want to be with you, I do, but we can’t be together in the living realm. It wouldn’t work out. You have to understand that and please stop killing the people I date. I promise you I’ll never love them as much as I love you. And you still won’t tell me how I can be with you for good, I don’t see why you won’t tell me.” Tears began to fall from my eyes. He wiped my tears away and said as he held my face, “the only way you could be with me permanently is if you kill yourself, or if I wait till you die a natural death. I’d have to take your soul into my realm. I want you to be able to experience a regular human life before you pass.”
I woke up from my dream with tears streaming down my face. Roman immediately appeared and began hugging me. “I know, my love. That wasn’t a dream that you liked. I tried to steer it in the right direction for you, but you always ask such serious questions.” He said rubbing his thumb against my cheek. All I did was cry into his arms. This dream had got me thinking more about how life could actually be if I were to go to his realm. He told me many stories about it, and it sounds beautiful. Would I actually want to go though? I would end my life now if I wasn’t so terrified of dying. Also, I would be his forever, but what if my feelings for him change after a couple centuries?
