Chapter 1

Lotta wondered what he would think now if he saw his sister acting like a brat.

Probably nothing.

He pretends that nothing happened that night by the lake, but it did, and he knows it—just like she did. Lotta supposes he would thank his sister for the way she treats her.

Ugh, Agatha has always been a nice person, but ever since her brother went to a higher school to take over his father’s role as Alpha, she has become impossible—especially for Lotta.

Lotta didn't have the energy or strength to deal with that anymore. Alpha Martin is a good man, but he doesn’t know what his wife and daughter do, especially when it comes to omegas.

That was a hard time for them, especially for Lotta. She was the target of Agatha for a long time, ever since her brother Drake left.

She wasn’t always an omega. Her Parents were the lead warriors in the Shadow Creek pack, but they were killed when a cruel rogue Alpha attacked the pack when Lotta was only 14. She promised herself that she wouldn’t fight, but she trained secretly when no one was around.

Then, Luna Mary decided that Lotta should be demoted to an omega, and she suspected Agatha had something to do with it. Alpha Martin couldn’t refuse anything his Luna or daughter wanted, and now, Lotta was stuck working as a servant in the kitchen. It’s decent work, but it feels humiliating every step of the way—not from others, just from her. Once, those two were good friends...

Lotta made the decision to finish high school and attend college. She had enough savings from her parents to support herself initially, until she found a part-time job to cover her rent and food while she was attending school.

Lotta refuses to stay here and continue being Agatha’s target. Additionally, Drake is returning to take over his father’s role as Alpha, and she wanted no part of that—it's something Lotta didn’t want to witness or experience.

She hated him. He humiliated her and broke her. At that moment, Lotta felt useless. Now, as she was approaching her 18th birthday in a month, she expected to find her mate—something she didn’t want.

Sometimes, Lotta could hear her wolf insideher, talking and whining. Yes, Tess can be annoying, butLotta still hasn’t transformed. She doesn’t know if it’s because she doesn’t want to or if she just can’t. She was not sure why this was happening.

Lotta was guessing she should be a black wolf-like her parents were, but she didn't care. She’ll go to the human world and stay there. Being in a pack and being a werewolf didn’t interest her, not now, or ever, thanks to Richardson’s family.

Lotta had enough bruises and shit from her, not thatshe couldn’t defend herself, she could, that was the problem, but Agatha was Alpha’s daughter, and Lotta could get killed if she harmed her.

And Drake...

Shit!

Lotta was 16 when that happened.

Losing her family and being reduced to the status of an omega hurt her more than she could have imagined.

In their pack, omegas were generally treated badly, and they were never allowed to succeed. While a few managed to rise above, most were relegated to serving the needs of others.

Now, Lotta foundherself among them, wearing herold jeans and T-shirts, saving her nicer clothes for school.

She faced humiliation in every way possible, not understanding why everything had changed, which ultimately brokeLotta. Yet, she never let anyone see her pain.

She guessed that she was so proud, or it was in her blood...

Lotta never imagined that he would look at her the way he did, especially since he wasn't drunk. However, she was at a loss; She didn’t understand anything at that moment.

If only there had been someone to talk toher, instead of just her parents burning with grief, showing sympathy, and continuing with their lives as if she no longer mattered.

Lotta felt lost, broken, and so sad that she couldn’t think clearly—she was just going through the motions like a robot. That same night, he changed her even more.

She felt worthless afterward, not understanding why he was avoiding her. For the first time, my best friend was ignoring me, being rude, and humiliating me in every way.

Maybe he told her something, or perhaps she was just embarrassed because Lotta wasn’t a warrior like her parents; she was just a simple omega now.

It was his 18th birthday, and Lotta was serving them as usual. This was part of her job, along with cleaning, cooking, and all the other hard work that came with it. But she was okay with it.

Lotta knew that one day things would change, and the fact that she almost gave herself to him that night made her decision to leave even stronger.

Lotta felt broken inside.

After finally finishing her work, Lotta went outside to the garden, near the fountain, to get some fresh air and clear her mind.

There was peace, and she thought no one could see or disturb her. He stood there, feeling like he was just waiting for her to arrive, which was unsettling.

When Lotta spotted him, she instinctively stepped back, hoping he hadn’t noticed her. Then she heard his firm, deep voice call out, “Stop right there, Lotta!”

Damn it!

His voice sent a chill down her spine, and her legs seemed to lose all ability to move. He was an Alpha—her future Alpha—and his voice felt like a command Lotta couldn’t ignore. But still, she had never experienced anything like this before, especially when he uttered her name.

Lotta was weaker than ever before, and that hadn’t happened to her ever, which made her feel strange.

Yes, he was hot and a dream for most of the girls in the pack, but not for Lotta.

He was tall and muscular, with skin that was made darker from the sun, which made his black eyes darker, just like his messy hair was.

“Are you disobey your future Alpha?” He asked, with a mocking tone in his voice.

“Come here," his voice was softer, but Lotta was angry about his behavior toward her.

He wasn’t still her Alpha, and he won’t be at least a few years, but that’s not why she didn’t run away.

She was an omega and felt strange. His golden eyes were fixed on her, as if she were his prey, and she trembled as she approached him.

“With all due respect, Drake, you are not my Alpha—at least, not yet.” Lotta tried to keep my voice steady, even though she knew that after this, the dungeon would likely be her next stop. Lotta was stubborn and refused to accept such a tone from anyone without a good reason. After all, she was the child of a warrior.
