Introduction
Pawn of Akatosh is a story set in Tamriel, the world of the game series Elder Scrolls. More specifically, it is set in Skyrim, the country in which the latest (at the time of writing) Elder Scrolls game takes place. The story will be written in such a way that you don’t need to know the Skyrim (as in, Elder Scrolls V) lore to understand what’s going on, but knowledge of the lore will greatly enhance the reading experience.
I’d like to make some things clear; although this story is technically Fan Fiction, I hope that it will not abide by the poor connotations usually surrounding that word. Most Fan Fiction is usually deemed “bad” because they are written as more of a fantasy, they go widely outside of the lore of the series, or it is essentially an entirely different world with the same characters. I can promise that Pawn of Akatosh will be none of these things. It will abide by the story and lore of Skyrim closely and will take you through a familiar world if you have played the game. There will be no overpowered OCs, no feats otherwise unaccomplishable within the story, and no... weird sex stuff. (In fact, the main character of the story is a fairly regular Nord.)
Now, enough with the semantics. I’m going to give a vague outline of the story here to pull you in, but keep you wondering what will happen in the story. Pawn of Akatosh will start a couple of weeks before the events of Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. I know I just made a big point over how it will follow the lore and confines of The Elder Scrolls, but this story is sort of an alternate reality, as in, there is one large event that is different from the game (It still technically follows the lore, thanks Dragon Breaks!) that will influence and shape the rest of the story. Another notable piece of information is that this story does not follow the perspective of the Dragonborn.
Keep in mind, I am not the end-all be-all source of Skyrim lore and I may get minor things wrong in my writing, and if I do, please reach out so I can fix my mistake. I would like the story to conform as close as possible to the world of Tamriel, so any and all breaks from the lore (other than the big difference, which will be easily notable) are unintentional and I would appreciate feedback if anyone notices these differences.
Pawn of Akatosh, by the nature of the tale I’m trying to tell, will also dive deeply into Skyrim’s politics, and show themes of contention between ideals and no definitive “good guys” or “bad guys.” A lot of the story, including the intentions of the main character, will be heavily influenced by the hot politics in Skyrim that are prevalent in the storyline of the game.
