‘Liv! I need to use the bathroom!’ Leo yelled, banging on the door. He had an audition in an hour, he needed to look his best but his older sister was hogging the bathroom.
‘Use the guest bathroom!’ Olivia poked her head out the door.
‘Parker’s in there,’ Leo said, barging into the room anyway. Olivia’s make-up and hair products were thrown messily around the counter, ‘do your make-up in your room.’
‘I would if Aria didn’t force me out to argue with her boyfriend,’ Olivia complained as she stood beside Leo to finish her mascara.
The cons of being in a giant family, Leo sighed.
Leo Hurston’s grandparents had five kids, who each got married and had a bunch of kids on their own. His parents had four; Olivia and Aria, twins who are three years older than Leo and share a room; Leo himself, who was 13 at this point; and also Parker, who was two years younger than him.
Then there were his dozens of cousins, aunts and uncles, and even a couple of nieces and nephews from cousins who were ten years older than him.
It’s never quiet in his family, there’s always some sort of chaos and racket going on. Which is fun most of the time, but really annoying during times like this.
‘What’re you so worked up about, anyway?’ Olivia asked, combing through her long wavy blonde hair. Her and Aria look nearly identical; green eyes and blonde hair, except that Aria’s hair is straight.
‘I have an audition,’ Leo replied, fixing his shirt, ’Aidan from Maroon, remember?’
‘You’ll do fine,’ Olivia encouraged, ‘they’d be knobs if they didn’t cast you.’
Okay, his siblings were annoying, but he wouldn’t dream of a family better than his.
‘Thank you,’ he smiled, ‘good luck on your…what are you doing?’
‘I have a date,’ Olivia grinned.
Leo turned and headed down the stairs to see-
‘Parker!’ Leo pulled his brother off his backpack. Parker looks more like their dad than their mum, with his brown hair and eyes.
Leo’s been told that he looks like a mix of both his parents. Olivia and Aria inherited their mum’s blonde hair and green eyes, while Parker got their dad’s brown hair and brown eyes. Leo, on the other hand, has blonde hair and brown eyes.
Parker chewed on the jaffa cakes he stole from Leo’s backpack, ‘I didn’t eat breakfast!’
‘I have an audition!’ Leo shooed his brother away and grabbed his backpack, ‘thank you for hogging the bathroom earlier.’
Parker rolled his eyes, ‘mum and dad are in the car already, don’t be late.’
Leo pulled the door open and stepped out the door. As Parker said, his parents were in the front seat of their family car.
‘Alright,’ his mum smiled at him from the passenger seat, ‘you ready?’
Leo beamed, ‘I was born ready.’
Literally. His mum played a pregnant woman in a show then he worked on that show as a baby after he was born. Then he played a kid in the movie Fearless (and the four movies that came after that). He also played a kid called Max in a show called Heather.
And if everything goes well, he’ll get to play Aidan in Maroon.
