Plot:
The story “Dreams Are Born in the Dark” takes place inside the family home of Thalina and Cheryl, two sisters trying to understand where life is taking them. Regardless of living in the same house, the situations they go through have different outcomes for both of them. Thalina is the eldest one, having a difficult time at home and school, which results in keeping everyone away except Cheryl (Cherry), who on the other hand is a free-spirited girl, desperate in trying to help her sister overcome the miserable state she’s in. After Thalina finds someone to confide in other than her, Cherry starts becoming jealous, resulting in her overprotectiveness causing more damage than good. Their relationship takes a wrong turn, ending in a tragedy that will forever leave them scarred.
Purpose:
“Dreams are born in the dark” is a real-life occurrence for the characters in this short narrative. What’s important to be mindful of, is the scale of how one percept their ups and downs, darkness and light.
Thalina has a complex personality and mentality which weighs her down to the bottom of the pit, together with her demons. Cheryl on the other hand is very comfortable with her flaws and needs. There are no protagonists or antagonists.
Besides the hardships of a teenager, the story will include common conditions such as false awakening, chilling nightmares, signs of self-harm, and more. Each of these topics is going to be written and handled respectfully so that the reader cannot be triggered or insulted.
Describing the “phenomena” within a person’s mind and its many branches of consequences is the main core of this book and the books that will follow after it. We shape our future by how we manifest things, what we desire most, and who we keep close to.
Caution:
As mentioned in the PURPOSE section, some chapters will include self-harm and other acts that involve violence oneself. Because these are real-life matters, they will be mentioned briefly and with respect.
