Summary

The body gets heavier behind me – dragging me down. The moon warping into a faint light. My head starts feeling light, the water surrounding me makes me feel peaceful, yet I feel my heart racing.

Dreaming

06:00 – My alarm goes off. Getting up this morning is hard – my body aches. My eyes are puffy, and my teeth hurt. I get up and as I step off my bed, I fall into an abyss – deeper and deeper, as my room moves out of perspective and I can hear a waterfall towards the right. As I slip into the darkness, I feel a spray of mist against my face, the waterfall must be close by.

I reach my hand out, and I knock my arm against a hard surface, the pain protruding to my shoulder. As I hold my arm closer to my body, I hit the water, without warning – no breath taken; I am plunged into the deep. I struggle, kicking my legs to get to the surface. My nose filled with water, rushing down my throat. I break the surface, couching up the water; I suck lung fills of air. Just as I start making out the environment, my head is pushed forward, into the water. I see my legs are kicking illuminant against the deep blue, almost black water – there must be light somewhere. My legs kicking beneath meI push against the force and it lets go. I break the surface again – more couching – it burns in my chest. I kick my legs just enough to float and to keep my head above water. The moon’s light is so bright that the surface of the water is deep blue, the depths as black as coal. I can’t see any land, just hear the waterfall in the distance.

I feel something sliver up behind me – a hand wrapping around my throat, a voice whispers in my ear: You seem too calm – aren’t you afraid of the dark? Legs wrap around my waist and pull my body parallel on the surface of the water – floating…yet I can’t seem to breath – my lungs don’t seem to work.

The body gets heavier behind me – dragging me down. The moon warping into a faint light. My head starts feeling light, the water surrounding me makes me feel peaceful, yet I feel my heart racing.

I let go of the last air – the bubbles dancing to the surface. My whole body goes numb – can’t fight, can’t move. Drowning – feeling my body go limp. Is this the end? Will I be able to get to the surface? What if I just close my eyes? Will the pain go away?

Buzz buzz – my alarm clock goes off. 06:00 – time to get up.
