The White King

Summary

The governmental leaders of Pankind have been usurped by a strange man with a seemingly limitless army of horrors. It was fine for 3 years... Exactly 3 years. What are warriors to do but sort it out? The White King, a man who showed up 3 years ago and conquered Kosmos, has been working as the dictator of the world from Penengah. Then again, when you're built like a tank and have a limitless army, there's not a whole lot that's gonna go against you. The lands near his actual territory flourished under his rule, but cultures outside of it gradually split into what they were before the Pan War many years prior. Rising tensions grew while five main cultures began developing: the tribes of the western plains, the clans of the northern tundra, the empires of the eastern forests, the singular city of Solaris in the southern desert, and the White King's Dominion of the supercontinent's center. All remains peaceful, however, due to the White King. What is the world to do, then, when shit finally goes to hell?

Prologue - The Black King

The main palace of Penengah was in turmoil.

Well, ruins would better describe the sea of bodies and destroyed marble tiles trailing behind the Beast Kings’ entrance.

“Before you die, tell me something. Why did you want us all dead?”

Konungur smiles, though it ends rather abruptly when he hacks up blood a second later. Once he’d gained his voice back, he looks up at the four Beast Kings, the leaders of the Pan, with as even an expression as he can muster.

“We believed you were a threat to humanity,” he says plainly. “Considering I’m the last one left, I’d say that was an accurate statement.”

The Black King laughs- literally and figuratively busting a gut.

“I guess this is the end, huh?” he asks rhetorically, his eyes catching one last glimpse of the sun. That brilliant orb... The cause of this world.

As he falls backwards, he smiles, but it was a smile of peace rather than amusement.

“Goodbye, all of you,” he says, giving his last words to the group.

And then he lands upon the marble tiles of the throne room.

Leah: The character writing in this is lovely. Everyone feels rich and well fleshed out, even when introduced for only a moment.
