1. Prologue

Our world was meant to be destroyed and yet it still stands. The war changed the world as we knew it. There were only a few human survivors. And these mostly served as food for the creatures, we always thought, are just a myth, fairytale, or horror plots.

The oldest creature came to settle the score. To teach humans a lesson, they never forget. Not only humans but the supernaturals spoke about him with fear. He was older than everything, the oldest creature. He was powerful. He could create worlds, but he decided just to clean up the mess. Nobody saw him. Those, who did, were dead. The dead man tells no tale. The King forgot his own name. He was looking for his mate. This world is still here, because he found her. He hated the idea, he's mated to the human woman. He has to not only make her immortal, but also teach her, how to be his queen.

Humans made fractions. They were fighting over water, food, shelter and most importantly they wanted to be servants. Supernaturals wouldn't kill them in that case. It was at least some protection. Not a good life, because it was a slavery. The most powerful people from the peace time were bred as pigs for slaughter. A few took their chances and tried to hide in woods, simply to survive, or to die free.

Demons, vampires, werewolf, witches, warlocks and others were walking the earth. Every single one of them is as deadly, as it gets. They were not united. That was the most dangerous fact. If not for the King, they would kill each other, until nothing was left.

No time, no place, nothing was safe. And nobody could trust anybody.

Rodela: I have been reading in Inkitt for quite some years now, but this is the 2nd time I am reading a story as well knitted as this one. The plot was as generic as possible, yet, it gave answers to many questions other werewolf stories couldn't. Most importantly, it made me realize what I want with my lif...
