Prologue

“Mama? Dad?? Where are you?”

A petite 8-year-old girl with (hair color) hair, tresses cropped short, gazed in wonder upon the expansive and ominous hallways of the looming manor.

“Mama?? Dad?!” She called out once more, only to be met with a blood-curdling scream echoing from a distant corridor. She sprinted towards the origin of the voices, the haunting cries resonating through her mind.

Despite the fear coursing through her, dread of the impending horrors in the next corridor, she reached the gruesome scene of cruel massacre.

“Dad! Mama!!” Her scream pierced the air as she beheld her mother’s lifeless form sprawled in a crimson pool. Her father struggled to reach his grimoire lying nearby.

He noticed her with brimming tears in her shimmering (e/c) eyes. “(Y-y/n). . . my. . daughter. *cough* C-Come here, please.”

She rushed to his side, dropping to her knees beside him. “Dad! Wha-what just happened? Who did this?” Her voice quivered, and tears began to stream down her cheeks until she turned her attention back to her mother.

She let out a heart-wrenching wail as she gazed upon her mother, who remained unresponsive with closed eyes. “Mama! Wake up! You have to wake up, please!” She desperately tried to shake her, but the attempts were futile.

“(Y/n). . . she’s gone. . . you must. . *cough* g-get strong. . a-and be brave.”

She swiftly turned her attention back to her father. “I-I’m scared. What is going on?? why is this happening? Dad you’re hurt! where’s Onii-chan??”

“(Y/n), listen to me carefully,” he rasped, his breaths growing shallow. “*cough* You must run. I’ll hold off the enemy. You must go now! R-Run before they find you! Go!”

“No! I’m not leaving without you and Onii-chan! And who are you talking about? Who is the enemy? Who are they—” she sobbed, but her father didn’t allow her to finish. He gently placed his hand on her head, signaling for her to calm down and listen. He managed a weak smile, prompting her to hastily wipe her tears away with her long sleeves and try to stifle her cries.

“I’m S-sorry, my little dragon, b-but you have to go without us. There’s no time to explain about them.” He coughed again, violently and (Y/n) held his hand tightly in her little ones. “Y-you will find out about them when you get older. . .”

Her eyes widened as she watched him reach out for his grimoire. His fingers made contact with the cover, and it began to glow. She gritted her teeth, doing her utmost to hold back her tears. She clung to his blood-stained, ragged shirt, her grip unwavering. “No! I’m not leaving you!”

“(Y/n), please, listen to me,” he urged, punctuated by coughs. “G-go directly to the uptown, and you’ll find the boundary of the Capital. H-he will assist you. He is the current wizard king of the Clover Kingdom.”

“But-” again, she was interjected by her father. He tore some pages from his grimoire and shoved them into her small palms. “Just Go! And took them with you.”

She was on the verge of protest when, suddenly, the other side of the door slammed open, revealing a group of traitors with wicked grins plastered on their faces.

A formidable and malevolent presence stepped forward, sending shivers down the little girl’s spine. She quivered in fear, backing away.

“Aha~ So you finally showed up. I’ve been itching to personally eliminate you.”

She couldn’t recognize the voice at all. Then, another shadowy figure stepped forward, pushing the first one aside. Dark mana enveloped her body, making escape nearly impossible, and her breath caught in her throat.

“Hmmm, but upon second thought,”the second figure spoke,“you, my dear little pest, might just become the perfect puppet for my forthcoming plans~”

“Not happening!! I’m still alive, you hear me Devil?!” all of a sudden, her father yelled as he managed to prop himself up and casted a spell. The little girl snapped back to her senses and fought to break free from her frozen state.

“Of course, you’re alive, but not for long?!”A magic circle appeared beneath them, and they quickly jumped away.

The oppressive dark mana finally dissipated, allowing her to regain her mobility. “(Y/n), just go!!” he shouted, struggling to get up and diverting the attention of the enemies who promptly launched their attack.

“Dad!! Please, no!!” Tears started forming up in her eyes again as she stretched her arms toward her only remaining family, but something grabbed the back of her collar.

She glanced behind her, and before she could utter a word, she was hoisted into the air and gently deposited onto a firm yet plush surface. Her gasped as she realized she was sitting on the unicorn her father had summoned.

"Wait! No!!" The unicorn already started galloping out of the hallway, leaving her father with those traitors behind.

She looked back at her father who had tried to stop thatdevilbut failed. He turned to look at her retreating figure and smiled sadly.

“Remember, my dear,” he said with sadness in his voice but was loud enough so she could hear him say clearly, “Don’t trust just anyone easily. Be careful about who your real friends are and who might not be. Get stronger so you can fight for good causes with true friends. And always know that we love you, always. So, never, ever, give up. . .”

His words etched deeply into her memory, (Y/n) broken down into tears and cried out in agony as tears streamed down her face. She rushed toward the destination her father had instructed.

As the spell dispersed, the unicorn vanished into thin air, leaving her to fall to the ground, injuring her elbow and knees. “Dad. . . Mama, brother. . . why?!”

She sobbed, huddled against the trunk of a tree. she remained there for an hour, crying to her heart out until the first light of dawn.

Despite her heavy eyelids, she forced them to stay open. She wearily trudged out of the forest and spotted a town in the distance. She could discern the boundary of the Capital ahead.

A sigh escaped her lips before her knees lost their energy and she fell on the grassland. Her eyes still awake as she kept recalling her father’s last words.

An unfamiliar figure approached (Y/n) and with a somber, almost melancholic sigh, he crouched down to check on her.

“Who. . . are you?” She managed to speak, glancing up at him. The person smiled sadly then helped her up. “I’m Julius Novachrono. The current wizard king of Clover kingdom. You don’t have to worry now, I’m here to help you.”

She had heard his name many times, her father used to spoke his name during conversation, her father was a close friend of his, but she never knew that he is actually the Wizard king!

“Well, . . I should say, You’re a bit late. . .”

- 7 years later -

You heard a knock on the door, waking you up. You grumbled under your breath in annoyance. “Ugh. That dream again. . . anyways, I should get ready for the day now.”

You heard a knock again, this time it was louder than before. “Okay! Give me five minutes!! Jeez.”

You quickly got up and rushed into the washroom, after brushing your teeth and all, you changed into your attire and grabbed your cloak before rushing out.

You wore this attire, or you can imagine your own outfit.

You spotted Marx waiting for you outside your room. "What is it, mushroom-head?" You asked with a poker face.

“Lord Julius wants to see you immediately, and for clovers sake, would you stop calling me that! ahem! young miss.”

“Only when you stop calling me ‘young miss’. . . seriously that’s weird to call me with such suffix!”

“Mushroom-head is even weirder!” Marx argued back making you snicker.

You walked to the office where Julius is waiting for you. “What’s up?” You entered his office with a bored face, much like Yami’s.

“Ah! My precious little Firecracker!” He attempted to embrace you in a bear hug, but you halted him by extending your hand in front of you. “Not happening,” you stated bluntly.

Marx poked his mushroom-like head out from behind your shoulder and sweat dropped. “Uh, Sire, she just woke up and hasn’t had breakfast yet so don’t mind her bluntness.”

“Oh! My little Firecracker didn’t have her breakfast yet?? How about we have our breakfast together?” He suggested with sparkles in his eyes.

You sighed knowing that he was trying his best to be like her family, the way her father used to be. “Never mind that. Tell me, why did you call me here? I’m assuming a new mission?”

Julius sighed giving up on the family union idea. “Alright. . . Marx, show her the mission details.”

“Yes sir.” He pulled out his transmission magic as a holographic screen appeared in front of Julius and you.

“This man is Revchi Salik. He was the corrupted former magic knight from Purple Orcas. Due to some misfortune, he failed a mission which led him to get expelled. Now he’s been spotted in common realm creating trouble in the town. He’s the Chain magic user and Your mission is to arrest him on the spot.” Marx explained.

You nodded your head, “I see. Where is the last time he was seen?”

Marx showed you the map and point his index finger on the marked region. “Right there. We assume that he’s planning to flee to a small village that goes by the name ‘Hage’.”

He showed you the forsaken realm map and you nodded. “Got it.” You spoke and turned around to leave.

“Wait. There’s more.” You stopped in your tracks and turned to look at Julius. “You’re 15 now. It’s time to get your own grimoire. I want you to participate the ceremony that will be holding tomorrow in Hage village. You might encounter this Revchi there, you can capture him on the spot.”

You smirked slightly, “sounds like a plan. Well then, I should be get going.” You waved your hand in dismiss and stepped out to leave but the mushroom-head blocked your way.

“Nope! Not without a proper breakfast. You’re still growing, you need more nutrition, so you’re not leaving without eating your breakfast!” Marx crossed his arms puffing out his chest as he stood firmly in front of you.

You rolled your eyes and slouched your shoulders grunting. “Fine, Mom.” You said sarcastically making him narrow his eyes at you.

You chuckled along with Julius. You admit, teasing this Mushroom-head is actually fun.

-An hour later-

After breakfast, you packed your stuff including a katana that Yami gave you for your self-defense and headed out to the forsaken realm.

You grabbed a broom and flew over the noble realm where you noticed some members of crimson lions’ squad.

You smiled to yourself then sped up towards your destination. Flying high above the Capital town as the wind brushed through your (h/l) (h/c) hair.

You remembered the first time you went to the forsaken realm in search for your foster father, Julius.

Yes, Julius Novachrono is actually your godfather. He took you under his guidance after receiving news of the (L/n) family’s downfall and finding you on the outskirts of the Capital. Since then, you have been known as the adopted daughter of the Magic Emperor.

All the squad Captains treats you like a superior and respects you, without even knowing your real identity.

You sighed after hearing your grumbling stomach, you’ve been riding for three hours in speed, and you didn’t even notice the time. You lowered your broom and looked around in search for some food stall or any shop.

Slowing the pace in process, you caught a delicious whiff from a nearby bakery and followed the fresh aroma as your stomach rumbled louder.

“This sweet and tasty smell. *sniff* It can’t be mistaken. It’s (your favorite dessert)” You floated over the bakery about to go inside when you noticed a creepy guy trying to rob someone who looks like a merchant.

You grunted under your breath and turned to face the robbery. “Well, it can wait. . . Hey, you there!” you exclaimed, landing down.

They turned to look at you with a quizzical expression. You finally recognized the face of robber in front you. “Revchi Salik, in case of robbing and causing trouble in the Common realm, you have to go back to the capital with me!”

Revchi tilted his head slightly, looking at you from head to toe with stern face before he burst out laughing. “I don’t know from where you heard my name, kid, but I’m not going anywhere near the capital! And who do you think you are??”

You smirked at him and stepped ahead confidently, “I have a mission to fulfill, I’m sent here by the Wizard King to arrest you.”

He let go of the merchant in his clutches who ran away with bag full of precious items. Revchi laughed at you in disbelief and pointed his index finger at your face and you stopped right in front of him.

“You? A little girl in her blooming stage with no grimoire is here to arrest an ex-magic knight?? Is the Wizard king of clover have gone nuts? Hahaha!”

You snickered and grabbed his arm which was pointed towards you, “laugh all you want but I’ll send you to the prison myself!” With that you twisted his arm in a painful way.

He yelled and turned to glare at you. “Why you little. . .” he growled and casted a spell, his grimoire flew next to him flipping through the pages as it shines.

You noticed the magic circles appeared behind you, glancing back at the chains you let go of his arm and quickly dodged his attack.

You pulled out your katana infusing it with your mana as the flames engulfed the blade. Revchi’s eyes widened for a brief moment, “I see now, . . but you can’t catch me with that small flicker!” He sent his chains directly at you with sharp pointers.

“Hmph.” You swung your katana blocking every attack then send a slash of flames at him. “Eh?!” He quickly snatched a broom from a passerby and flee away but the fire caught his cloak.

“Haha! Running away from a little girl now? who doesn’t even have a grimoire yet! Hey! Get back here!!” You stood onto your broom and chased him while he tried to put off the fire that was burning his cloak.

“You brat! I’m going to kill you!” More of his chains were sent towards you.

You slashed them away and dodged them. “Tch. This isn’t good enough. I can’t keep up while swinging and dodging at the same time.” You muttered to yourself then looked down at your pouch which was hanging on your side.

You skimmed through the items and took out a torn page of your father’s grimoire. “Ugh, No. This won’t help.”

You were distracted while searching something useful in your pouch. Revchi took the opportunity and hit you with his chain magic from behind.

You gasped, the pointed chains grazed your arms and shoulder, and you lost your balance in process. “Dang it!”

While falling, you send one last slash at him that hit the stolen broom of his and caught fire. He dashed away in panic with fire on his tail.

You snickered before you fell into a tree below you then dropped on the ground with a loud thud. You groaned in pain while lying under the tree.

“Oh my! Are you okay??” A nun spotted you on the ground and rushed down towards you. She checked your injuries and frowned slightly. “Oh dear. You’re wounded, but don’t worry I’ll treat them for you.”

“What’s going on, sister Lily?” A tall figure approached them. You couldn’t make out his face since you were losing your consciousness. Their voices were barely audible until you completely passed out.

“Yuno! Can you help me carry her into the church? I have to bandage her injuries, please?”

The tall boy with black hair and ember eyes stared at your unconscious face with scratches and leaves stuck in your hair.

"Fine." He sighed then carried you up in bridal style before walking back into the church with sister Lily behind him.
