Chapter 1:A Fateful Encounter

The forest road, bathed in dappled moonlight, seemed eerily different after Amy's encounter. She awoke in her car, disoriented, her head throbbing from the collision with the rock. As she touched her neck, she felt a slight tenderness, a small puncture wound hidden beneath her hair. It was as if a dream, but the memory of those monstrous transformations lingered in her mind like a haunting melody.

"What in the word happened? Was I having a dream in the middle of the forest road? Or shall I say a nightmare?" Amy wondered after waking up, her blue eyes reflecting both confusion and fear. She was a 21-year-old orphaned human girl, on her way to a new town, searching for a fresh start. It seemed like a dream but the feelings were too real.

Days turned into weeks as Amy settled into her new life in the quaint town of Moonlight Ridge, all the while haunted by the mysterious events in the forest. She resumed her photography, capturing the town's beauty but always with a lingering unease. Her short brunette hair framed her face as she peered through the camera's viewfinder. Meanwhile, Jake, ever the patient and cautious alpha, watched from the shadows, ensuring she remained safe.

One crisp evening, as the moon hung low in the sky, Amy strolled through the quaint town square, her camera slung over her shoulder. The aroma of freshly baked bread filled the air, and children laughed as they chased fireflies. It felt like a picture-perfect moment, yet Amy couldn't shake the feeling of being watched, an inexplicable connection to something she couldn't comprehend.

Just as she was about to call it a night and head home, a rustle in the nearby bushes caught her attention. She instinctively raised her camera, ready to capture whatever creature lurked within. But as the shutter clicked, her heart skipped a beat. The photograph revealed a pair of glowing, amber eyes peering out from the darkness.

Amy’s heart raced as she stared at the photograph, her fingers trembling around her camera. Those eyes, illuminated by an otherworldly light, seemed to hold a secret, a story that begged to be unraveled. She couldn’t explain it, but a magnetic pull drew her towards them.

"what in the ...?" Amy stuttered, but by then the creature already left leaving her uneasiness growing .

Amy’s nights had become increasingly restless, plagued by a sense of foreboding that she couldn’t shake. As she lay in bed one particularly moonlit evening, she drifted into a fitful sleep, the fragments of a haunting memory lurking at the edges of her dreams.

In her slumber, she found herself on that forest road once more, bathed in the eerie glow of the moon. The distant howls of wolves echoed through the trees, setting her on edge. Her car had inexplicably halted, its engine silenced by some unseen force, trapping her in the midst of a moonlit nightmare.

As if driven by an unexplainable compulsion, Amy stepped out of the car and ventured deeper into the woods. The heart-pounding fear she had felt that night surged within her once more as she recalled the surreal scene that awaited her—a circle of people, their features contorted by an animalistic fervor, shedding their humanity to transform into wolves. It was a sight that defied all reason and left her paralyzed with terror.

Desperation had gripped her as she turned to flee, her footfalls echoing through the forest as she raced back to her car. But the relentless pursuit of something primal, something inexplicably drawn to her, followed in her wake. It was Jake, the alpha, who had tracked her scent, driven by an overwhelming need.

In her dream, Amy reached her car, her heart thundering in her chest. Yet, in her haste, she stumbled, the jagged edges of a rock meeting her forehead. Darkness had claimed her, her consciousness slipping away, but not before she felt the searing bite on her neck—a memory that had been buried in the recesses of her mind.

With a start, Amy awoke from her restless slumber, her chest heaving with the weight of her recollection. The moon’s glow filtered through her curtains, casting an ethereal light in the room. She touched her neck, her fingers tracing the faint mark where Jake had claimed her as his mate, a memory that now felt all too real and unsettling.

Determined to uncover the truth, Amy began to look more into local folklore, seeking answers to the bizarre occurrences she had witnessed. Moonlight Ridge -the town name- had its share of legends – tales of shape-shifters and ancient packs hidden deep within the forest. The more she uncovered, the more her unease deepened.

"I just wanted to start anew in a new place, surrounded by new people... How come my life is becoming more and more unpredictible than before?" Amy wondred for the thousandth time since she moved there

One evening, at the town’s cozy library, Amy found herself engrossed in dusty tomes, each page revealing fragments of a hidden world. A soft voice startled her.

“Can I help you find something?” It was Katy, the enigmatic sister of Jake, who had become Amy’s friend in the meantime.

Katy was a striking figure with her long, raven-black hair cascading down her back. Her captivating hazel eyes held an air of mystery, and her fair complexion was complemented by a few scattered freckles across her nose. She had an alluring presence, and her slender frame carried an aura of grace and confidence.

Amy hesitated for a moment, unsure if she should share her discoveries. But Katy’s warm smile put her at ease.

“I’ve been researching some strange things happening in this town,” Amy confessed, deciding to trust her new friend.

Katy’s eyes widened with intrigue as she listened to Amy’s account of the eerie forest gathering and the mysterious eyes in her photograph.

“You might be onto something,” Katy whispered, her gaze filled with an unspoken warning.

“Well, I'm not sure. A lot of bizzare things happened since I moved in here ... It feels almsot like a dream but the mark on my neck tells me otherwise,” answered Amy without any thoughts to what Katy just implied with the tone of her voice, she was oblivious to the warning in it

As the two friends seemingly continued their quest for answers, they or should I focus on 'Amy' unknowingly drew closer to the heart of the supernatural secrets hidden in Moonlight Ridge. But with each revelation, she also drew the attention of forces far more powerful and dangerous than she could have ever imagined.

"what might that be?" you must be wondering
