STORY 1
He watched her intensely from his window. She had piqued his interest and he couldn’t overcome his curiosity. He remembered the day she moved in, at first, he was shocked when he saw that the house next door has been bought, the real surprise was when her room was directly beside his room window, which gave him a full view of her room.
At first, he saw her like every other Nigerian girl, dark skinned, full hair, big lips and nice body proportion. But later she much more. She spent most of her day reading novels, and doing other things her night was spent by her working on her new program. He loved how organized she was, how she carried her afro, how she didn’t care who was looking at her when she did her happy dance on the road, how pleasant her voice was when she sang, how she would go to bed in a large hoodie which end at her thighs with a long sock to sleep.
But he couldn’t bring himself to talk to her, ‘she was way above his league’ he though. She wouldn’t like an unorganized, averagely smart boy like him, a boy who spends most of his time playing video games and not filling his university application, a boy with bad social skills. He had seen her talk to people in the street. She spoke with great confidence and great knowledge, which was something he lacked.
A day came where he to put his insecurities and fears aside and walk up to her. He sat alone in his room playing out different scenarios in his head on how to approach her. He decided to meet her when she went out on an errand for her mum in the evening.
When it almost time he waited outside his house hoping she would come. It wasn’t every evening she went out on errand for her mum. An hour passed and she there was no sign of her coming out, exercising patience, he waited half an hour more. It was getting dark, and he had lost all hope, he decided to go back to his room and sulk. But as fate could have it, she came out of her house holding a trash bag.
‘Hi’ he shyly greeted. She was so surprised that she mistakenly poured the whole content of the trash bag on the ground right beside the big bin.
‘Hey, hi, good evening, you are talking to me, why, sorry I meant you finally have the courage to speak to me and stop observing me from your window’ she said nervously. He was too embarrassed and surprised to speak. A lot of things ran through his mind. So, she knew when he was watching her, why she was waiting for him to approach first.
‘‘I’m Kamsi by the way, and you are?’’
‘‘Tobi, my name is Tobi’ he managed to answer.
‘‘well Tobi it is nice to finally talk to you, but I must go, I will see you around.’’
Five minutes passed and Tobi didn’t move from where he stood, he still couldn’t believe that he was able approach her and speak to her.
‘‘Kamsi, Kamsi’’ he kept saying before going to bed.
