Life Before - It Begins

15 years ago…

impatience and fidgety. She twiddled her fingers unable to get comfortable in her chair. Her mind spaced staring at the waiting room floor until her father entered the room. Without hesitations she stood up, “Is he here?” She asked excitedly.

He nodded, taking her by her hand and they walked into the room, the nurse stepped to allow them to walk in. Her brother lay in her mother’s arms as she leaned inward. He looked to have the same navy blue eyes as their mother.

“His name is Nightwing” Her voice was low and calming when she spoke.

“Hi,” Daring waved, her voice soft. “I’m Daring,”

5 years later…

Daring the ball back, she called out to her brother, who sprinted back and caught it in both hands.

“Nice catch, now throw it back!” She shouted. Nightwing, her brother, angled his arm back and threw it towards her. It was a nice strong throw. She stepped back, Her heel tripping on the uneven rocks, putting her hands down to catch her fall but in the process, scrapping her hands on the pavement. Ow, She thought to herself. She picked up her hands, a minor cut, and bruise but nothing major. Her brother began running towards her.

“Careful!” She called out, afraid he might trip as well.

“Are you okay?” He asked

“I’m fine,” Daring answered. She looked at her minor cut, focusing her energy. Her cuts began glowing faintly as they faded. She put her hands down, pushing herself up.

“How did you do that?” He stepped back.

“You can’t tell anyone what you saw, okay?”

“Not even Mom or Dad?” Nightwing asked

“Yes, not even Mom or Dad,”

“Alright,” he promised.

“It’s just one of my powers, however, since I have lighting, you can have this one,” She put her hand in front of her, seeing a glowing sphere materialize onto her palm. She extended her hand out further as Nightwing reached out to grab it.

“I can show you how to use it another day, but right now, let’s head back,”

Current Times…

She opened one of her drawers reaching out for an old picture frame. She picked up the frame. Holding it in her hand and blowing lightly at the dust, she directed her gaze down at the image. A tear slid down her face, landing on the photo of her and her brother. What could I have done differently to have kept you alive…
