A Captivating Tale

"This was a different take on fantasy from the very beginning, and it definitely worked. The descriptions were lovely, and the characters were knowingly different from the other. The writing style had a nice flow, and emotions were written well. There was a slight lag in the pace as we near the middle of the story, but it does pick up eventually, and we are given even more to experience and think about as the story unfolds. The grammar and punctuation were nice in this, which was refreshing to see. The only thing I was a little hesitant on was the betrayal scene. It seemed a bit abrupt with one character turning a complete 180 during this. It sort of left me questioning the necessity of it. I will have more in the comment section as I don't wish to leave any spoilers in the review. Overall, this was a completely enjoyable book, and I wholeheartedly recommend it for anyone to read. -Author of Hollow's Charge"

Fantasy Epic

"This work indeed grabs you from the very beginning. The author chooses to relate this work in first person as if the main character is speaking directly to the reader, unafraid to use the familiar second person even. Some may find this intimidating, but in the natural flow set from the first page, the second person cordiality relates a seemingly well-meaning grandfatherly figure about to tell a tale to his grandchildren. Instantly, you are wanting to know what wisdom and advice could be garnered from hearing such a tale."

Amazing!

"From your first chapter, the first few words immediately pulled me in. This story is really interesting. I like Alex's character. As soon as I began to read I could tell how good this was going to be. You write very well and your descriptions are great. I see a lot of people struggle with that (Myself included) but you're doing a great job. Character introductions weren't rushed and from what I've read I really like how strong you've made your main character Alex out to be."

An Enjoyable Read

"When I first looked at this, I thought it was going to be completely different than how it turned out. The story and characters were great and kept me on the edge of my seat throughout reading. My favorite characters so far has been Alex, because of the realism you put in. Alex seems like a living, breathing person. The other characters you had were distinguishable, and I could easily pick out their unique voices-- which is great in a cast of characters! Overall, I can't wait to see how this goes, and I'll be sure to keep reading to find out! **NOTES FOR THE AUTHOR BELOW."

Wonderfully enthralling!

"I sat down with the intention of reading one chapter before I started my homework and ended up binge-reading the whole thing. This story was extremely enjoyable, and I'm eager to see where it goes. Everything about it was enthralling, from the plot, to the cast of characters. The world that you've created for this story is dark and beautiful, and I'm curious to see where things will go next. I liked the idea of there being so many dangerous creatures outside the villages and towns. It added a really fun, fantastical element. I was surprised by the turn of events that led to Alex fleeing from the Sanctuary, and it was handled very well. The assassins remind me of a group called the Dark Brotherhood from a game called Skyrm. I'm curious if you've played this, because lots of the elements, from the assassins group and the college to the cast of characters remind me of Skyrim. I think my favorite part of this story was the characters. I loved the interaction between Alex and Conner (I ship it). And I also liked the characters that you developed in the Sanctuary. I'm really curious about the one mysterious guy (I saw him called both Micha and Micah in there, so I'm confused about his name). I was amazed at the way you gave each character a different voice. That is EXTREMELY hard to do, and it makes it so much more real. My only complaint is that I went through the first half of this story not knowing if Alex was a girl or a boy. I'm still not certain, although I assume by Alex's relationship with Conner that she's a girl. I would appreciate some clarity on that because I like to have a picture of the protagonist I'm following from chapter one. Other than that, it was great! The writing was very clean and enjoyable, and I like Alex's voice. I only noticed a few typos here and there. All in all, it's a great start! I can't wait to see where it goes!"
