Chapter 1
HARLEY’S ROOM
Lying on my bed, slipping my earpiece into my ear, the sound of the music filled my head, drowning out the noise of the busy street just after my house.
I closed my eyes and let the music wash over me and take me away to another world.
Maya came inside my room, I thought she wanted to grab something and leave, but she came in front of me.
“Harley Harley!”
Maya was calling but I couldn’t hear her, I only saw her lips move, she had to tap me cause somehow I was engrossed in my music.
I removed my earpiece.
“What?” I asked her
Maya was staring with a pleading look on her face.
“Maya!!!!!”
I yelled, I wanted to get back to my music.
“ can you come with me to see a friend?” She finally found her voice.
“Who?” I asked her
“Tyler”
“Who’s Tyler?”
“A friend!” She said with finality, like she knew I was going to ask more questions.
I looked at her with pain in my face cause I’m going to leave the comfort of my bed and peacefulness of my room but she’s my baby sister and I love her so much, I don’t want to make her feel bad.
“okay fine, give me a moment so I can get dressed.”
“Okay sis” I could hear the tiny excitement in her voice.
She left the room.
In no time I was able to figure out what to wear.
Stepped out of my room to the living room.
“Mayaaaaaaa!”
“Ma” she replied from outside the house calmly.
I walked to her and we left the house.
Boarded a cab to Tyler’s place.
TYLER’S HOUSE
We were in Tyler’s house in 20minutes.
Maya led the way.
“Hey there” came a masculine voice, it was Tyler, he was trying to get my sister’s attention.
“Hi” Maya replied
Tyler was really tall and equipped with every masculine feature.
He was dark and handsome.
“Meet Harley,” my sister was already doing the introduction and I was caught up in the studying of this Tyler guy.
“Hi Tyler” I finally said
“Yea , I already told her your name” Maya cut in
“Oh oh, nice to meet you Harley “Tyler said “come with me inside“ he added
And that’s how we went inside his house.
Of course, it looked like the dwelling of a man there was nothing feminine.
Inside was this guy, that was the opposite of him.
he wasn’t so tall, not anything close to Tyler.
I didn’t like this guy, he was type.
Why was I analyzing somebody that I don’t even know?
I asked myself.
Scoff
I just knew at that moment I can never have anything to do with him.
“Evan, Meet Maya and Harley” came Tyler’s voice interrupting my thoughts.
Evan?
“Haha I didn’t want to meet him” I said in my head
“Hi” Evan said lacking interest but still staring at sister and I.
“Hi” Maya and me said the same time.
Tyler offered me a sit, then he took Maya with him to I don’t know where.
The room was left with me and Evan.
“Do you want anything to drink?” He asked
At this point I regretted why I didn’t come with my earpiece.
“ No,thanks!”
“You sure you’re good?” He asked
“Yes” I fired back shooting him with a look not to ask anymore question.
“Okay”he replied, maybe getting my message.
Just maybe, I started having this tingling feeling of guilt.
“Am I wicked? Harley why?”
It was a question I couldn’t answer.
But anyways I was on my phone getting myself busy with viewing streaks I haven’t viewed on Snapchat.
Meanwhile Evan was doing some paperwork on a reading table.
We didn’t say anything to each other till my sister came back to the room with Tyler.
I didn’t even have an idea where they went to, but that was by the way cause she was back and I was craving the comfort of my room already.
She went over to Evan and they were talking, I didn’t hear anything just chuckles, I didn’t even want to hear I mean it wasn’t even my business.
Maybe I was just overreacting, I don’t even know.
They were done with whatever conversation they were having.
“Let’s go home” Maya said
“Phew, finally!!” Rang in my head.
I stood up ready to go.
And Tyler walked us down to where we could board a cab back home.
“Bye Maya, looking forward to seeing you again Harley” Tyler said
Me? Why
“Okay” I said with uncertainty, I prayed he didn’t hear that.
“Bye Tyler” Maya said
And we entered the cab, we were both quiet till we got home.
HOME
We were home finally I hurried to my room, our parents weren’t home yet.
Maya to her room.
Back in my room, instead of grabbing my earpiece I started thinking of everything that happened earlier.
Why am I even thinking about it? I couldn’t even answer that.
“Harley!!!”
That was the voice of my mom.
Damn!!! They’re back.
Back to the normality of a potential house help in my own house.
“Ma” I shouted so she can hear me.
I hurried to go and meet her, and I’m sure it would be in the kitchen.
Even the blind will know that!
