Chapter 1
2 years earlier than present
Pierre Bain was his name, a cold man with such a strong deep French accent and the most unique white hair who works at a flower shop with his aunt. Some go to that flower shop just to see the man, just to ask him if he would give them some flowers, which he would reject.
A girl walks in, soaked. She is very beautiful with mint green eyes and a skinny shape, her hair dripping water onto the floor. She looks confused and anxious, going up to Pierre. “여기는 어느 도시인가요? (What city am I in?)” She asks, her voice is so pretty, all soft and smooth. Pierre just looks at her with confusion, he doesn't know a single thing she is saying.
“Excuse me?” he tilted his head.
“Ah.. uh.. Help?.. Lost.” Her english wasnt good at all. It was clear that she struggled talking. He looked at her and pointed to her wet clothes then pointed to the stairs leading to him and his aunt's apartment. She knew what he was trying to say and nodded, he started to walk up the stairs and she followed. He looked at a seat at the dining table and she sat down on the seat, he went away to get a towel for her. The girl looks around and sees a very cozy looking apartment complex surrounding her. He came back with the towel and wrapped it around her. It had been so warm from the dryer which made her smile brightly. He looked at her and saw how beautiful she actually was. He had never seen anyone so beautiful before.
Pierre took out his phone and put on a translator, typing something on there. He showed the girl the phone and it said “이름이 뭐예요? (What's your name?)”
She looked at him and hesitated, Pierre waited patiently, “Hyun-Ok.” she replied. Pierre looked at her before saying his name. She smiled warmly at Pierre and he smiled back before typing in something into the translator asking if she was hungry, which she typed back saying “Yes.”
He started to make something and his aunt came in yelling. “Pierre! Tu es là?! (Pierre! Are you home?!)” he sighed, his aunt walking into the kitchen and saw Hyun-Ok, gasping “Tu as une fille à la maison? (You have a girl over?)”
He didn't even look at her. “Elle est perdue et est venue chercher de l'aide. Elle ne peut même pas me comprendre. Elle parle coréen. (Shes lost and came for help. She can't even understand me. She speaks Korean.)”
The aunt gasped and went over to Hyun-Ok, sitting beside her. “나 한국말 할 줄 아는데, 피에르가 길을 잃었다면서요? 어떻게요? (Hey! I speak korean, Pierre said you were lost? how?)” Hyun-Ok was surprised, she hasn't met a Korean speaking person in America.
She took a second, but was able to answer “동생을 만나러 갔는데 넘어지면서 휴대폰을 떨어뜨려서 깨졌어요. (I was meeting my brother but I dropped my phone after I had tripped and it broke.)”
The aunt looked at her phone and grabbed it “형님 번호는 어떻게 되나요? (What's your brothers number?)”
Hyun-Ok looked at the phone, She looked at the aunt “+82 2 1234 5678. 그의 이름은 서준입니다. (His name is Seo J.)” She said.
The aunt put the number in and called the number, a deep but calming voice answered with a “Hello?”
The aunt smiled “Hi, is this Hyun-Woo?” she asked.
There was a second of silence, after a minute he responded “Yes? Who are you?” Hyun-Ok smiled when she heard her brother's voice.
“Im Anna Bain, I believe I have your sister here with me. She's safe, she had gotten lost and couldn't call you.” Through the phone there was the sound of a sigh, but of relief.
“Okay, Thank you for keeping her safe. If you give me an address I will be on my way.” Aunt Anna gave him the address and he hung up after.
As pierre’s aunt called Hyun-Ok brother pierre got done making the food and served it to her, right when pierre gave everyone food hyun-ok’s brother walk in and see’s he get mad saying “현옥아 뭐하는 거야 이 새끼가 왜 너한테 밥을 주는 거야?! (Hyun-Ok what are you doing why is this guy giving you food?!)”
She looked at him like he was crazy, "배고팠어요! (I was hungry!)” He got really mad and grabbed her by the arm and pulled her out of the house, before they left, Hyun-Ok made direct eye contact with Pierre like she didn't want to leave him. Though it caused Pierre and his aunt to be really confused.
A few days later, she came back and she went to Pierre, looking sad. She typed on her new phone that she had to get. She showed him her phone screen and it was something in the translator. It said “Thank you for taking care of me the other day, I appreciate it. I'm having to go back to Korea, so I would like to know if we can exchange numbers maybe?” He nodded and wrote down his number on a piece of paper, She put it in and texted him a smiling emoji. Smiling and leaving.
