Having taken care of their daughters murderers in Book One; We Were Swans, Tom, and Sacha are rebuilding their lives, going back to being as ordinary as their changed circumstances allow. Outside of that and unknown to them, an organisation has been forged, and is building. Themis; its declared aim to circumvent a warped legal system; gifting decency and redress, where bureaucracy can't, won't, or simply doesn't. In this, their debut mission, Themis takes on a child grooming gang, but trusted manpower is hard to find, unless you know where to look. Knowing about the severe measures they took when seeking vengeance for their child, Themis turns its gaze towards Tom and his wife. Drawn in, the couple join a humanitarian mission that takes them into the most unsavoury, appalling places, both mentally and physically. For a second time, they are outside the law, but working for justice.
