Prologue
The witch surrounded by death, that shuns all the rest, shall be awoken by innocence.
Over a hundred years ago
Rheseis giggled slightly at the look on the face of the woman in front of her. The wide-open eyes with a slightly open mouth to match. As well as, the slight tremor of her hands that rested on the notebook in front of her.
The woman, or witch rather, sat behind a wooden desk. The walls of the room as adorned with bookshelves and a few paintings depicting either nature scenes or people. It was clearly an office, and what was more, the office belonged to a prestigious university in Switzerland. Rheseis couldn’t help but marvel at the lengths the witch had taken to establish herself in the human world.
Without letting the witch regain her composure, Rheseis covered the floor of the office in grass and made trees crawl up the walls with flowers that hung from the ceiling.
“That’s much better,” she nodded to herself.
“Who... who are you? Are you a faerie?” the witch managed to get out of her mouth.
“Oh yes. Have you witches really forgotten so much about us?” Rheseis pouted. “I do not like that.” With a swift movement of her hand, she replaced the witch’s hair with hay. And that got the witch going. She leaped to her feet and her eyes had sparks of fire in them. She started muttering something and moved her hands. Rheseis just yawned as she flicked her hand again, that time binding together the witch’s hands with vines.
“What do you want, faerie?” the witch spat.
“I am here because you are the current high priestess on chair number three and your ancestor, together with the other high priestesses, made a deal with me. Perhaps you have heard of that deal?”
The witch swallowed audibly and all arrogance disappeared from her. “Yes, of course I have. Forgive me. If I had known it was you, I would never have acted so rashly. My coven has had some issues with faeries you see.”
Rheseis danced instead of rolling her eyes. Yes, the issues caused by the witches unwisely disturbing one of the faeries’ sacred places.
“That’s all fine,” Rheseis smiled as she twirled. “But then I assume you know why I am here. One and two have already held up their end of the deal and now it is your turn.”
“What is it that you want for your services?”
Rheseis stopped her dancing with her face only inches from the witch’s.
“I have heard that the golden apple is in your possession. I would very much want that one.”
Rheseis smiled broadly and made sure her eyes glittered with happy excitement as the witch’s lips started to quiver.
“I cannot... Isn’t there something... I have other things.”
“Noooo,” Rheseis cooed. “I really want the golden apple. And a magical deal was struck. The price has to be paid.”
A shaky breath left the witch as she nodded. Rheseis snapped her fingers and both the witch and the office returned to normal. The witch walked over to a painting of paradise and muttered a few words before reaching into it. When she had extracted her hand, the golden apple was in it. With slow steps she walked over to Rheseis and placed the apple in her hands.
“This one is going to go so well with my collection,” Rheseis squealed with a smile before snapping her fingers and disappearing home. There she settled herself to wait the few years that were left until Zoe would be conceived.

Rheseis as in the faerie of love volume 6. First chapter and I love her character already. Seems like I have to battle 5 volumes to reach her story. And I'm in!
